My guess is that the 1.5 will reappear with an M-mount. It must be one of CV's most popular RF lenses. The 1.1 would be far too big for most purposes. A major part of the appeal of RF is a degree of compactness.

I am wondering about this as well. The 50/1.5 is one of their first lenses. It has an L39 mount and it is said that the Cosina offers better mounts with the newer lenses.

So a new barrel with M-mount and bayonet hood might be a possibility. I am wondering whether Tom and/or Stephen could spill some beans ...

i believe the CV nokton 50 is enough

I think the Nokton 50 f1.5 is going to come back with a M mount. Cosina would not kill one of their popular lenses. The 1.1 is just too big, at least with the 1.5 I can use my Nikon filters.

Wow, it handles light beautifully and the OOF is quite nice, maybe not as loud as the Sonar but very smooth and organic. If i was in teh market for a 50, that would be the image that sold me to it... (problem is i got shots that sold me to the sonar...)

That's the same thing that happens to me. I look at this shot, and I'm wowed and then that shot and wowed. I'm in the market for a 50 and really want the 1.1, but either of these would be great too. The sonnar would be a nice companion to the 1.1...

Nokton, finally got one

This shot is awesome, I love these environmental portraits photo style!!!

I'm planning to get the Sonnar later on, could you please let me know if your Sonnar lens is f/1.5 or f/2.8 optimised?! Thanks !!!

Sorry, didn't follow this thread. Mine is 2.8 optimized.

Since I'm here, might as well add to the thread (not seeing so much Sonnar stuff here)

And my new favorite shot on my new favorite film (Foma200):

I've owned a J-8 and loved its look, but it didn't suit all subject matter, I'm much happier with my Nokton for all round use. And I don't know why anyone would complain about its performance wide open or its bokeh... I love them both. Below is the Nokton wide open on XP400.

Don't mean to spoil the party, guys. But I really can't tell the difference between photographs shot by the two lenses. But I can see quite a few here knows how to use their lens well - whether is it a nokton or sonnar. If I have to choose between either of them, it will be the nokton for its bang for buck.

Man! This thread should be renamed "Post your 50mm shots here!" for the spirit of RF photography!:D

Wide open they're pretty different in how they render scenes and people. But I agree - the pics in this thread are great!

This is yet another thread that doesn't actually prove anything of the original question that was asked. The image samples are different, all shot under varying conditions, by people of differing skills. That's without mentioning the equally different equipment combination that were used by each photographer.

As far as I can tell, neither lens is better than the other.

But I do thank this thread for I, too, am considering a 50mm. Given that for me budget is the decisive factor and now seeing the Nokton shot samples, I'm going with the Nokton.
