Hey Dan,
I give up... what's with the hamburger flippers? Instead of print tongs?

For moving J Lane glass dry plates from tray to tray.
A neat little trick I read over on the LFF Forum.
Works great actually.

How do you deal with transferring chemical contamination?

Second bath is water no acid. Then to fix, keep the spatulas separated out of the fix. Also I can transfer the plate from one spatula to the other. And lots of rinsing after a run.
I'm still a glass plate novice. Actually I may completely switch over to the SP445 which I have yet to try out, but it's on my to do list.

Here's my solution. I retired in December so in three months I built myself a classic B&W silver darkroom without compromise. Now TODAY I am starting to print

Note: the spatulas were for handling glass dry plates in trays, and they have gone bye-bye.

A guy picking up my Kreonite color processor was touring my darkroom just recently, and he strongly suggested I vent above the chemical trays. I think he's right. This is a very COOL design I saw over at APUG. That's a dust removal unit from Harbor Freight, and a plastic driveway drain which can be moved around. I found the driveway drain on Ebay and bought one for $20. Next I will go to Harbor Freight and check out the dust removal unit.

In-line vent fans are pretty affordable and available in the typical sizes (4”, 6”)
Made a few of these over the years. Just recently finished a huge vent hood for a friends metal shop. Great idea really!

Black and white printing is like learning to ride a bicycle. I produced these five decent looking prints in a couple of hours, switching enlarging lenses and carriers. All the same paper and developer. I have many many hundreds of neg rolls and sheets, I've forgotten what is on them.........

Another from today. Printed on silver B&W RC paper. The red roses I bought for my wife. I had to take them out to the back deck for photography before disposing of them.

Darkroom Print 3 Hot Rodded Pentacon Six by Nokton48, on Flickr
Back in the day this was the hottest Pentacon Six to be found anywhere on the planet. I sent two P6 bodies to Pentacon in Dresden, and they upgraded it to full Exakta 66 MK2 mode. The body was then covered with "Rollei SL66 Anniversary Diamond Rubber" which I procured from the Rollei factory. The Strap Lug Attachment was made for the EX66.
Photograph made in my studio by direct flash. Hasselblad 100mm F3.5 Planar, 70mm Kodak Surveillance Film, processed in ADOX Borax MQ. Silver gel print on RC paper

Hey, Dan-
Just checked Harbor Freight's website. They have a 25% off coupon for tomorrow only.
On the smaller dust collector, that'd drop it from $155 to $116.25
Also have the nitrile gloves on sale again.

Those dust collector motor units tend to be pretty loud and might be a bit too much in a small room. Good idea though. A venting hood for a kitchen might be a good idea, if you could get one (used?) on the cheap. Dark room looks great, as do the pictures.

OK I got the fan and I'll try it soon. Hopefully not too LOUD. If so back it goes

What I like about this design is that it is COMPACT. It will fit in my existing sink space. The fan could go outside of the darkroom if it is noisy.

Been busy here's the latest. Been printing and really enjoying it. Starting to stock up on paper. Got enough for now
Been working on carriers and enlarging lenses. A good amount of metalworking still to be done. Lots of enlarging lenses to be tested.
Went to OCCS auction and have lined up boku Omega DII chassis and important parts. About to fill up the car.
Buy a LASERALIGN if you want sharp enlarger prints. Great tool

This will be the Homemade Darkroom Fume Vent. It's actually a driveway rainwater drain, but it's perfect for this use. Later today I'll buy the drain pipe and connectors to rough this thing up. The high speed duct fan will go in the laundry room.
Right now the drain is suspended by thin wires which might not be a bad solution as space in the sink is at a premium. Not a problem even with the 16x20 trays
