Still in downsizing mode.
Tung are you coming this Sunday? I have a C-mount or CS-mount lens for your Nex-7: a Pentex 8-48mm zoom that has a F-stop range of F22- F1.0. I think the B&W LN3 filter on it is a close up lens.
A friend at work did some dumpster diving on my behalf and has been holding onto this for a while.

This Sunday... let's make it a big meet-up! Anyone have a 50mm Elmar-M (black one) they can bring?
Tung is going to try and get an adapter by the meet-up and we will be constructing a Nex-7 with a 8-48mm F1.0. Just in case he can't get an adapter in time might someone have a CS mount to bring to theb meet-up.
Also as a door prize I will give away one of my Pana Vue's. Its basically a battery powered slide viewer that is no longer available. My friends at the B&H used department exaggerated a bit by saying I probably could find someone who would give me $100.00 for one because they get asked all the time for them.
This door prize goes to the person who brings in the coolest slide.
Tis the season to give: get rid of unneeded gear.
Cal
Hmmm, slides! Is this a colored Pana Vue (as opposed to black)?

Acually I have the market cornered with three. I gave a grey one and I think a brown one, then there's this Pana Vue wanna be.
The funny thing is I don't remember how I ended up with them, who gave them to me, or how I got them. LOL.

So, does this mean Tung has a Nex-7 with a M adapter that he is bringing to the meet-up?

huh?? I only have "my wife's" NEX-5.
Can't find a C-Mount - NEX adapter locally, so I ordered it online.
I doubt it will show up before our meet-up... :-(

Basically Tung bought a Nex-7 for himself. He lies like a rug when he states that its his wife's camera.
Hopefully he will bring it anyway. I'll have the 8-48mm F1.0 to give him.
BTW a CCTV lens is likely SC-mount. The same one inch thread as 16mm movie camera lenses, but there is a 5mm additional space to the sensor/film plane. I got this info from Cristian.
Although the close focus is limited to 4 feet, the B&W LN 3 is a close up lens. It is likely that this rig might be able to close focus under 0.7 meter. Since its a zoom you can dial in or out the vignetting.
BTW Tung is really good focusing with the Nex-7.

You are probably right. My bad.
I often get confused. This is how I end up with 3 Pana Vues that I don't know how I got.

Ok, I don't mean to derail the thread but I have been working to get a single print of this done to show off this weekend (and during the several weeks I'm going to be in the city) but logistics are preventing this.
So, I give you my book, "Fallujah. A photographer's perspective" online instead. Maybe I'll bring slides from Iraq but I already have a PanaVue
.

This WILL be in print soon but my schedule has been so crazy that I had to step back from it for a bit.
I'll post the main plug in a new thread.

Phil,
Welcome home.
When you can try to check out The Center For Book Arts in Soho. I took a course in bookbinding with one of the teachers there named Susan Mills. I'm sure they or someone there can point you in the right direction, advise you, and maybe even help you with your project. Art books are always small runs so they know the field.
As for your work, it provided me with some great insights and provided a POV that I otherwise would not have considered that the media seems to have missed; In particular where you draw the comparison to meeting the founding fathers and the risks they are taking.
BTW I lived in New Mexico for a year and a half and worked at Los Alamos on a Star Wars project when Ronald Reagan was President. I lived in La Cueva in the Santa Fe National Forest. I acually stopped taking photographs because I was unable to capture the scale and natural beauty.

Thanks Cal,
We had heard rumors of torture houses in and around Fallujah where people who supported the American/Coalition/free Iraq side were taken, tortured and killed or left for dead. I was the outsider and supported by the USMC, the big green gun club that had an overwhelming presence in the Al Anbar province so I will never know how it felt to be an Iraqi there at that time but the fact that they were willing to sacrifice absolutely everything for what they believed in was truly amazing.

(I just started a thread on the book in case you don't want to derail the NYC meetup one.)

Phil,
I derail this thread all the time. Most recently I can be accurately be accused of posting about moving to Madhattan; or about dropping my brand new camera; or even worse gear or GAS. It all has nothing to do with meeting up, eating and drinking beer once a month in NYC.
Its all among friends. Also its about helping and supporting each other. We have a really great group.

Bump again.
I hope John Chee brings out his new 2005 Nikon SP. If he does I'll bring out my 35/1.8 Nikkor in LTM.

I don't have anything rare to show off but I will bring my homemade 4x5SW point & shoot. It's an UGLY duckling but makes a nice giant negative that conveniently matches the FOV of my 21mm Zeiss finder.
Man, I guess I'm not packing light on this trip!

I'd love to see this. If you don't want to carry this now, bring it to the January meeting, because we may have Keytarjunkie's 4x5 converted polaroid on show.
I also just got some Linhof parts I need to put together 4x5, and a 6x7/9 cameras dedicated to a 58mm super angulon xl. I'll bring all those bits.
I'll also bring in a box of kodachromes that will be the source of much entertainment. Cal, make sure that pana-vue has fresh batteries!

If you want I'll bring two. One has a dead bulb.

I assumed you were bringing a working one. Either way, these slides shine even when held up to the light. They are some holiday pictures taken in the early 70's that I found at a market in London. The include some outrageous furnishings amongst other things.
