mmm, not exactly. The Ricoh is quite a different approach ... interchangeable sensors / interchangeable lens modules, interchangeable lenses. Check it out (video).

So the leica doesn't do the wholly unnecessary sensor-swapping, but why can't you mount a J-12 to an M8/M9/RD-1?

I dont own any of these digitals, so I know nothing. But I suspect the rather large rear end on a J.12 might ?? restrict use on some. The owner of the Ricoh pointed out, "be veeerrry careful."

So the leica doesn't do the wholly unnecessary sensor-swapping, but why can't you mount a J-12 to an M8/M9/RD-1?
It certainly works on an R-D1, and people seem to have been using J-12s on Leica digital Ms, too.
