I came across a Craigslist ad for a Leica MD for 250.00 which after some research seemed like a pretty good deal. I e-mailed the seller and he sent mr these pictures- it looks like some sort of film strip or slide copier but I couldn't dig up any info on it, not that I had much to go on. Any one know what this might be?

It's Karen Nakamura's article about the MD...seems it's a scientific camera that needs attached to a microscope or somethin'...

Well whatever it is, it 'aint a Leica MD (the MD being a Leica M4 without any viewfinder or range-finder. It was intended- as Don stated above - to be attached to instruments where those items would be unnecessary, such as microscopes and telescopes).

Since one side is painted white, and it looks like it can hold 35mm film, it might be a darkroom device to allow enlarged prints (or at least sections of them) to be printed onto a roll of copy film. Anyway that's my guess.

Leica did sell such a device - called an edixa IIRC - but it didn't look anything this item. The box itself might be from an MD but I doubt Leica made this little item.
