Does camera gear secretly creep onto your desk?

originally the dog room was for 2 dogs, one of which had some strange habits, so they were both in there when i wasn't home.
after she died, the other has been allowed back to roam as he pleases. but the room still has 2 beds, the grooming table, the dog stereo and daily supplies in it.

it may become a guest bedroom or upstairs tv room eventually.

Dog stereo ... !?!?

What do dogs like to listen to to ... a bit of Wolfmother maybe! 😀

Not on a desk but the sofa will attract one or more cameras...the passenger seat in my truck will somehow claim a camera or one hidden under the driver's seat...
The shelf/hatrack in the hallway will have at least one hanging and on the wet bar you can find two (right now) or more...but that's my doing...
My wife will leave them where they are and only move them if they are in danger of getting hurt...
The rest are in the office closet or hallway closet...that's where the wife would prefer them to be...

No desk at home (no space) but occasionally a camera on the dining table. More recently, since our little son has started climbing onto that table and loves pulling all kind of straps and cables, all gear is locked into the drying cabinet...

Yes, it's a problem. Also I can have a camera or lens taken apart. Currently i have old Elmar 50/3.5 apart for cleaning. It's going together momentarily.. surely to make room for something else camera related.😉

I just noticed that some camera gear has silently appeared on my computer desk! Anyone have a problem with "gear encroachment" on their desk?

I was already laughing when I opened this thread.

Currently a Nikon AF Action Touch (water-resistant version of the venerable Nikon point and shoot) is nestling comfortably among USB card readers on my computer desk.

Two old (and heavy) Polaroid folders as bookends, and a pristine Ansco Memar with Solagon lens adorned my mantle.

Yep, they are everywhere around the house.

Yes 🙂, it's a never ending problem for me. Right now, next to my laptop are:

Nikon D100, Yashica GSN, Olympus Stylus Zoom 140DLX, Lumix GF1, Lumix G1, Leica M3, 5 unmounted lenses, 4 loose rear lens caps, 3 loose front lens caps, Sekonic meter,... etc.

Thanks for the reminder to put everything back into the cabinet (to start the process all over again).

Yes. Desk and sofa.

My usually tolerant wife drew the line at the
night table beside the bed.... 😱 😱

Regards,
Al

Yep, on the desk. Sony NEX5, 5cm/2 Nikkor collapsible, CV 21 LTM, Komura 80/1.8, various adapters, take-up spools and lens caps, KMZ bakelite box for J-12, and a kludged-together leica IIIc stepper with some IIIf parts (not sure what to do with this one- it was the rear cap on a collapsible CZJ 5cm/2 LTM lens)

The spare bed in my house is covered with gear. Actually, there's some gear on my own bed right now too.

The sign of a true camera fondler....

At the moment my desk is remarkably camera free. There are 4 SD cards here, awaiting archiving, and I did have the M9 and X1 on the desk earlier today.

My darkroom desk is ALWAYS in a state of camera/lens encroachment.

I have two LF lenses on my bed at the moment, hoping to encourage something between the 120 and 240 to appear...
