Ektachrome update?

Sort of interesting: Fujifilm doesn't have any clothing line. Not that I know of. They prefer to get the support of the young with photographic products.

You can easily find FujiFilm apparel, including gloves, hoodies, t-shirts, golf shirts, etc. They don't market it as well as Kodak, but it's available on their website, at redbubble and other places online.

I looked at redbubble, Amazon, and Fuji's own site. No official apparel as far as I can find. Further, I've never once seen any one wearing Fuji apparel in the wild. I don't think any of Fuji's success can be attributed to anything other than their photographic products.

I don't think anyone has suggested that it has. Fuji and Kodak both make excellent products. And branded apparel, which I suppose appeals to some, might be helpful in addition to the core photographic products but is not my thing.

General availability seems to be rather close. Fotoimpex teased up Ektachrome as "coming soon" on their instagram today.

But Fuji is selling photographic products at these stores, not apparel. You can buy INSTAX cameras in many apparel stores like Urban Outfitters, etc...

I don't see any mention that Forever 21 is going to stock Kodak Gold film. There should be some direct way for people who are exposed to Kodak to buy their film. It is much harder for the casual person to buy film than it was back in the day.

Fuji has nailed this down perfectly, but only for their INSTAX line. They don't give a rat's ass about their other films.

I agree, the ideal would be to have film and lifestyle products together to drive home the message. Put a t-shirt and a roll of film in a bag or whatever.

Ok,

Time to get back on topic.

I have tried to be considerate but it is tiring.

Ratty Mouse continues to stir the pot. Trolling is not appreciated on this thread nor is starting the ever present negative comments about Kodak.

Stop it.

Agreed. It is tiring.

A few years ago there was a gentleman working at a camera store local to me who was incredibly negative when it came to film photography. He went out of his way to criticize it and the people that continue to use it. I honestly don't know if they're still in business or if he continues to work there. I grew so tired of his negativity that I stopped going there, despite the convenience of the location.

The new Ektachrome release is shaping up to be something really special. Who gives a damn if Kodak is pushing t-shirts to teens.

Fuji won't be giving up their market share any time soon. I would look for more aggressive marketing of their films and especially their E-6 products as soon as the new Ektachrome is released, if not sooner.

And yes, getting back to the subject: I am SO looking forward to the return of Ektachrome! As are many thousands if not millions of film photographers worldwide.

I would be very surprised if your prediction comes true. Has Fujifilm ever marketed their still films (non INSTAX)? I'm talking about something more than just revamping the packaging. Maybe they have, but I can't recall anything off hand.

I forgot about the Fujifilm blimp. That was some time ago. Of course, that is really marketing, but long since relegated to history. I was wondering what, if any marketing they do for their still films today.

Never saw this Kodak blimp before. Any ideas on the years of operation?

......because you ignore the media where marketing for photographic materials is most efficient in today's market, like instagram.
Fujifilm has started promoting their standard films in a more active way via instagram.
They are there as fujifilm_profilm
https://www.instagram.com/fujifilm_profilm/

They also have a "win free film" promotion:
"Enter our ongoing Fujifilm Friday series for a chance to win 10 rolls of Fujifilm + an #ishootfujifilm t-shirt! All you need to do to enter is keep doing what you always do: Use #ishootfujifilm and tag us when you post an image shot on Fujifilm. You’ll then be automatically entered into a randomized drawing that takes place twice a month.

Be sure to include #ishootfujifilm and @fujifilm_profilm when you post an image shot on Fujifilm to be automatically entered into the next giveaway drawing. ❤️📷🎞❤️Official rules & details here: http://bit.ly/ishootfujifilm2018 "

And they offer workshops for film photography in their Fujifilm Wonder Shop in NYC.
I guess quite a lot of rff members are also active on instagram and can post their shots on Fujifilm films there and can benefit from it.

They have also marketing partnerships with some professional labs.

I'm pretty sure I saw the Fujifilm blimp at this, or last year's Tour de France.
There were several blimps with Kodak markings, years ago I'm sure.
Blimps are owned by "blimp companies" and graphics applied on contract.
Goodyear built and owned their own, building their first in 1912, and many thereafter.

Right you are, Skiff! Fujifilm has a long history of advertising and marketing. We would be missing the point if we were to say, for example, this ad or this promotion doesn't specifically mention film products, therefore its not about film at all! And let us not forget that even if one might just by chance only see promotions of Instax cameras and films, further growth of the Instax line is good for ALL of Fuji's products. It is a win-win for film photographers everywhere.

Ektachrome update?

Today I saw Kodak t-shirt on a model in a poster in the window of a Forever 21 store local shopping mall.
Will post the pic of poster when I'm on a PC.

https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20180913005577/en/21-Celebrates-Kodak’s-Iconic-Brand-New-Apparel

Oddly enough, the adjacent mannequin was wearing a t-shirt with a biblical quote from Corinthians 16:13
Be on your guard
stand firm in the faith
be courageous
be strong.

I wonder which partnership will be more fruitful for Forever 21?
E-K or J-C?
