Raid I regularly carry Delta 3200 that goes through many carry-on baggage x-ray scans sometimes up to 12 scans and have never had any problems. The shot in the link went through at least 4 scans maybe more if it went on a prior trip and didn't get used. In the past if I worried about x=ray scans I used HP5 120 pushed to 1600 and got good results.

Dear Raid,
I suggest you to visit the Republic of San Marino when you will be in Rimini: it is only 30 km far from Rimini, and that nice place is worht a visit, I am sure your entire family will enjoy it!.
Moreover, I recommend you to visit the Piazza shop, just in fron of the central Post Office: Mr. Lorenzo - the owner of that shop - is a lover of rangefinder cameras and any old camera, he owns a collection of more that 200 pieces. He is a friendly guy and he always love to talk about photography.
Enjoy your holiday in Italy...and if you decide to stop in Milano, please PM me.
Ciao

Dear Mauro,
I have left you a pm. We drive through Milano, so maybe we can meet.
I will make sure to visit San Marino and to visit the Piazza shop.

If I wanted to travel light, would a 35/1.4 be sufficient or must I take a wider lens for Italian narrow roads?

Countdown: 16 days left

I was just rethinking this -- see what you make me do?! What if you just took the M9 with two lenses and be done with it? Yeah, it would be great to have a 21mm lens -- KEH has a Voigtlander one for $379, and they have a 15mm for under $300 (lens only, no viewfinder for either). The 35/1.4 you have would do just fine, however, if you didn't feel like sinking more $$$ into lenses.

As far as the black and white/colour thing goes, you can just shoot RAW and then make the shots colour or black and white afterwards as you see fit.

I'm liking this idea of the M9 alone -- the flexibility of ISO's, full-frame, great quality, colour/black and white at will, and a nice compact kit. And such freedom -- one camera, two lenses!

I'm in favor of shooting both digital and B&W film. My personal preference would be for the M9 and a 35mm Leica body that shares the same lenses. An M2, M6, or M7 would be great.

Do send a pm when through Milan. I travel a lot these days, but if I am in town would be happy to show you around and maybe we can do an unplanned RFF meet up

Well Vince, my last purchase was a CV 21mm lens in Nikon S mount, so I don't want to buy the same lens again in M mount.

Thanks for the reminder to shoot in RAW.

It does not work.

"This adapter allow you to use Nikon S or Contax RF outer bayonet mount lenses (with focal length longer than 50mm (but not including 50mm)) to fit on Leica M mount camera body.

Aperture-priority works on most cameras, however a preset exposure compensation may be required on some cameras.

there is no rangefindercoupling, so you need to do 'lens scale-focus', the built-in lightmeter stillworks fine.. And if you use with a M8 and new models, you will still have control over exactframing and composition."

What would work is my Canon FL 19mm/3.5. I have the FD-ltm adapter, which can be combined with a ltm-M adapter. I better try it out first with the M9 to see if the sensor responds well to such a lens or not. The lens is awesome with film.

I'm liking the sound of this more and more...do you have a 21mm viewfinder for that Nikon lens? I suppose if the 19mm lens worked, you could always use the 21 viewfinder in a pinch.

I did France in 2011 and New Mexico in 2012 with only my M9 and four lenses (21, 35, 50, 75), and never felt like I was 'throwing caution to the wind' by only having one body. What I did feel, however, was that four lenses was at least one, or possibly two lenses too many for me personally -- more often than not, I ended up using my 50 the most, followed by the 21, then the 35 and finally the 75.

I had dinner last night with an 87 year old gentleman who had been a professional photographer, and in his later years traveled the world with his wife taking photos and then selling them at art fairs. He traveled with an entire RB67 kit -- now that's what I call brave!

Hi Vince,
I will try out this weekend the Canon 19/3.5 on the M9. If it does not work, then I will use the CV 25/4 instead. Most likely, it will not fit the M9.

I have a 20mm VF that I use with 19 and 21 lenses. I may go with (21 or 25)-35-50 where the 35mm/1.4 Lux is the only fast lens. I am thinking of using the 50/3.5 Heliar for high resolution.

The 19mm lens should fit the M9 since the J9 fits it. The J-9 does not fit the Canon P whereas the Canon 19mm does. Therefore, the 19mm lens should fit the M9. Is this logical?

Given that I will have the M9 with me, is one lens sufficient to keep tne weight down and to keep things basic?

Lux 35/1.4
CV 25/4 + Lux 35/1.4
CV 25/4 + Lux 35/1.4 + Summiron 50/2

The Summicron could be replaced by the Canon 50/1.4 or Heliar 50/3.5.
The CV 25/4 could be replaced by the Canon 19/3.5.

Bad news: even after setting the M9 to 18mm lens, the 19mm lens vignettes too much. Note: I used jpg. Would it differ with DNG?
I could opt for the CV 25/4 or the Kobalux 28/3.5 or Rokkor 28/2.8 instead. In such a case, I would drop the 35/1.4 and take along a 50/1.4. I may keep things simple and only take with me a 35/1.4.

I may take with me also the 220 back for the SWC for the frozen film in 220 format. This way, I can take many photos on 220 film.

Keeping things simple, I will take one lens for the M9.

I am so ready for this trip.
