I'm just wondering about the chances for snow in May . . .
Well, Prague in February can be -20C and in May +30C but concerning the local weather maybe you can have some snow in May now.
I was once in Prague in February and it was -22C which is a big advantage if you want to make photos of empty places which are normally overcrowded by tourists.
Just for getting in the right mood:

All three on Czech Fomapan 200 film in R09 developer. M7 + Elmarit 2,8/28mm.
Unfortunately I can not join you during this week end. But Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and it has a very good atmosphere. Enjoy this trip and the Pivo.

Finally at home...
Check out the U Fleků.

Oh, how much I would like to join. It's not too far away and it's not too expensive there.
Great choice!
But I still cannot say if it will be possible for me to come.![]()
Too bad. I won't be able to join.

I'm looking at the Sudek site now Lawrence, it does appear interesting . . .
In another thread, it was mentioned by Roger Hicks that the Technical Museum has a significant photographic collection, so I've added it to the Google map along with the Atelier Josef Sudek location.
Thank you for adding more photos Robert! I hope we get weather more in line with the second set of pictures than the first
Pavel, that is a wonderfully atmospheric gallery. Especially, the shots along the river are something which I will try to find during the trip. Looking again, there are very photogenic rooftops too - and why is someone hanging with one hand off a flagpole?! After Googling Prague and man on a flagpole, I find that this is a statue of Sigmund Freud, well of course, what else could it be?

Few more tips:
Conveniently located directly in the city center is Leica Gallery Prague. Small, but nice.
http://www.lgp.cz
Directly across the street from Jan Sudek studio is another photographic gallery (perhaps it is even named Nikon Gallery or something like that. This location is also city center).
Just a few steps from Technical museum mentioned in post above is popular beer garden "Letensky zamecek". From there you can see the rooftops of Old town and Mala strana.
http://www.letenskyzamecek.cz/en
Very interesting building and interior is National Technical Library.
http://www.techlib.cz/en/
Another interesting place is DOX - Centre of contemporary art.
http://www.dox.cz/en/
When you have mentioned the beer, I have mixed feelings regarding U Fleku. They do brew their beer, but the place is 100% tourist trap.
Probably the best beer and good local food is served at LOKAL:
http://lokal-dlouha.ambi.cz/en/#index
For superb breakfast or cafe with a view and relaxing atmosphere I recommend Cafe Slavia
http://www.cafeslavia.cz/index.php?id_page=uvod&id_rest=slavia&id_lang=en
Simmilar place (except the view) is Cafe Louvre
http://www.cafelouvre.cz/en/
Excellent food and excellent service is offered at Cafe Imperial
http://www.cafeimperial.cz/en/
and right around the corner from there is Brasserie La Gare
http://www.lagare.cz/index.php
If you will happen to be accommodated at Vinohrady district, there is few nice places to visit, absolutely recommended is Bistro Dish:
http://dish.cz
For romantic occasions you may enjoy roof top view in Coda restaurant:
http://www.codarestaurant.cz/index.php/en
And even more romantic terrace is in their sister hotel Golden Well just few rooftops above:

Good you are mentioning the photo stores.
Foto Skoda is stocking many of the "usual suspects" brands of film and material including ADOX. Recently they have opened miniature Leica Boutique spot in their store.
And just across the street at Vodickova 28 is Foto Pazdera, notorious second hand and vintage photo equipment store.
Fotomaterial.cz (FOMA) is still on the address Jungmannova 28, which is in passage between Jungmanova street and the "Frantiskanska zahrada" park behind Foto Skoda building block.

FOUR WEEKS TO GO . . .
I have updated the Google map with most of the suggestions in this thread and adjusted the security settings so it might also be easier to see now.
If we think of two walks, Saturday and Sunday, is it a reasonable plan to look around the old town plus North of the river (castle and so on) on one day then more/different town-centre areas and West of the river (for example the heights near the viewing tower) on the other day? This may depend on the weather, meeting location and so on.
How does the two-days/two-walks idea sound to our local colleagues? There are so many exhibitions, museums and so on that a rainy-day program might also be achievable if necessary.
Which area of the town are most people staying and how does this affect our meeting location? With my budget, I'll be giving the 270 Euro per night Golden-Well hotel a miss this trip and staying on a campsite West of the river.

Heslo lawrence nad All,
Sudek´s studio si kind of hidden inside the building block (actually inside two). The entrance door happens to be closed sometimes desite the opening hours. So ring the bell and wait. It may take longer. It is operated by some dreamy students.
In every case the best part of the day is in the morning or in the afternoon. The studio is a shed where miracles happened. If you know his photographs well, you will be pleasantly surprised how little the close surroundings changed. You'll suddenly recognize the shots, views from his windows, old statue, steamy windows. Cool magic place, like where the time stood still.
Enjoy.

Thank you for the tips Stan
It looks as though there will be an exhibition in the Sudek building by Jan Jindra "Inside Landscapes", until Sunday the 19th. The previews on his website show old town/park details in black-and-white. Perhaps this will also be interesting to see in the days before the weekend - or possibly on our route during Saturday or Sunday? The location is on the Google map.

Time to try and work out who is actually going, then we can make a better estimate of where to meet up. Two people might suit a different cafe to twenty-two, for example.
Previously, under Kully's expert guidance, we have also collated a list of contact details with mobile-phones and areas where people will be staying and so on. If there are more than a couple of people (?!) going I will ask for information at the weekend and mail out the results.
