EUROMEET 2013, Prague, 18-19 May

won't be joining but can offer some advice:

when you guys go into Foto Skoda and Pazdera, forget about buying only Fomapan film and bring a fat wallet for the excellent new and secondhand rangefinder gear they have on sale... :D

Enjoy Prague, I know I did!

Ron, there is a cheap-and-cheerful night-train running directly from Amsterdam (via Arnhem) to Prague, straight in to the middle of the city.

So it looks as though there will be at least half a dozen of us, yippee.

I am looking forwards to picking up some interesting papers, rather than a lot more film or cameras but the photographic dealers mentioned in the thread are marked on the Google map . . .

In view of some confusion over the situation in Boston, currently unfolding, and bearing in mind several N.American RFF'rs have expressed an interest in the Euromeet this year - here is the link to a statement made by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Washington, earlier today.

Just a little bump to stir some interest. By now, most people travelling to Prague for the Euromeet will probably have bought their tickets, so I'll post an address for contact-information tomorrow.

OMG. A bit shocking that such a notice seems to be necessary.

I thought the clarification might be handy, as some news outlets were apparently announcing that the two suspects were "Czech". I know that everyone round here knows the countries have nothing in common, but some broadcasters were "less aware", shall we say . . .

About four weeks to go, so time to collect some contact information so that we end up at the same place and same time on Saturday 18th. May. I will make a suitable list and send it, a week before the trip, to those of us going to Prague.

Please send a contactable e-mail address and perhaps mobile-phone number, if you will be using one in Prague, to me at msbprice (at) gmail (dot) com. Slightly odd with the brackets, to reduce auto-spam, but you know that I mean "@" and "." in the address.

Do any of our Czech colleagues have suggestions about the centre+North and centre+West walking routes idea? What are the must-see photographical areas in from a natives point of view? The weather may come in to play too to some extent, and we have several museum or exhibition possibilities in case of unseasonable blizzards.

Thanks Martin, I'll have a look at the train tables....
expectation on what gear to bring:
- my just received X-E1 (very excited to try that one with Leica glass and Jupiters!)
- M6 TTL unless it is sold by then to a nice fellow member in down under
- one medium format camera, probably the Super Ikonta
- and if the M6 TTL falls true a trustable FSU
- if the bag is big enough...the Millennium

Ron, note that the standard NS-Hispeed.nl page doesn't list night-trains so you need to look at one of the dropdown menus on their website. Go to "Onze treinen" then "Overige treinen" and choose "CityNightLine/EuroNight". From the page that comes up, you can find details of the services and booking options.

Carrying 50kg of camera gear might spoil the weekend?
;)

totally off topic....

Johan, looking at your signature, you could still 'use'
a 35mm nickel elmar :)
if interested drop me a line

I booked today lounge at Lokal in Dlouha street for Saturday 18th May from 19h:

http://lokal-dlouha.ambi.cz/en/

The lounge can fit 25 people, if needed 35 people can squeez in.
I took there two non-Czech RFF members when they were passing Prague. They can tell about the place.. if they remember the evening:)
Cheers!

Oops, I missed your post entirely Vobluda! I think there was a new forum page and i didn't check back - my apologies.

The venue is already on the map and seems to have been recommended by a couple of you Prague natives. The menu looks delicious and the beer side of things is well covered too, just in case anyone has an interest in that sort of thing, as if they would?

Thank you for suggesting the venue and making the booking. I will visit there and most likely I won't be alone :)

I have just spent 2 weeks in Prague, but I hope I will be able to join - at least for the 'Lokal Dlouha' ;)

Important question - are only RF cameras allowed? :)

I don't think that there are strict rules :D In Instanbul I remember one guy with a medium format film camera. The rest had film- or digital rangefinders with them. Some people had a digital camera as 2nd or 3rd camera.

I wanted to bring my M8 but my 35mm lens crashed on the pavement two weeks ago. Don't really know right now, what equipment to bring.

Matus, this whole weekend is informal. There are no rules about cameras or anything else. (Just as long as you are using an M3 with a serial number over a million, of course.)
;)

In Istanbul and Barcelona there were film and digital, rangefinder and SLR, manual and point-and-shoot -- and at least one person with no camera at all.

The Google map has some new additions. Kossi008 has added a hotel and the main station. I somehow left off the station, even though I will be using it, oops.

If anyone else would like their contact details to be added to the big list (e-mailed out the week before we arrive) then send a message to msbprice (at) gmail (dot) com. It was useful last year in connection with a few delays and difficulties over the weekend, so that people could meet up and not miss each other.

Recently a friend of mine stayed here in Prague in Hotel Fusion and was very satisfied. This hotel is right in the city center (Panska 9, Praha 1):
http://www.fusionhotels.com/en/
There is also very nice bar in the hotel BTW :)

Another place to stay I discovered just recently is Mosaic House.
There is choice of 4 star hotel and also very nice hostel BELUSHI'S:
http://www.mosaichouse.com
http://www.belushis.com/bars/prague
Address for both is Mosaic House, Odboru 4, Praha 2, which is also in the city center.

And besides the hotels, here is one more tip for reasonable restaurant, this time for variety sake one serving Asian cuisine:
COA (Revolucni 1, Praha 1)
http://www.coaprag.cz/?lang=5

So who is attending? Is there a list of attendees (work in progress) somewhere?

From the participation in this thread I see 5-8 people coming. I think it would be nice to post more information so maybe some latecomers can be convinced to come too?
