i'm looking for a camera strap for my om1.

i'd like one that is longer than normal as i plan to use it bandelero style or just hanging off one shoulder.

does anyone know of a strap that is made a bit longer than normal?

i'm tempted to order one from luigi, custom made, but i am trying to save for the 50/1.5 or maybe that new 21/4 zm

thanks,
joe

Joe,

As a special offer, and... In order to avoid you some"purchasing mistake",
let me make you a special offer, in black or brown soft leather:

- An ADJUSTABLE leather Deluxe strap (now, all makers are calling their
fabric straps as "deluxe"...) with the maximal lenght fully extended of
cm 135/140, NEW, with lateral protectors, with shoulder/neck pad, at
$ 55, shipping from Italy included.

Included, too, my best greetings ! Luigi

luigi to the rescue!! :)

i accept your most generous offer sir. i have p.m.'d you.

i have also just put up for sale one of my mclassic wrist straps (see the classified section) so that i might be able to get another of your wrist straps also. it would be nice to have all matching straps.

i'm looking forward to luigi's extra long strap.

i took apart my gripper and sewed the ends to an o-ring thereby making it long as posssible. it's about 50 inches this way and feels much better over my big gut.
luigi's will be even longer and i think will be perfect for me.

i think he should call it the 'big guy' strap!!

or maybe, 'straps for mister big and fat' ;)

so i've been thinking...(i used to hate it when the ex said that...;))

it would be insane to put one of luigi's straps on a 50 dollar camera and the newly lengthened domke strap seems very happy on the om1 and i like how it handles...so, i think the the extra long leather strap will be going on the black zi, the silver zi will keep the wonderful and comfortable luigi wrist strap.
this will leave me a brand new luigi and an mclasic wrist strap to choose from for the incoming om2n.
unless i get another domke to lengthen for the om2...

my longer than normal luigi strap finally arrived at the postal station tonight.
it was hours late as it was supposed to be there at 1 this afternoon, thank you christmas rush!!

anyway...the strap is perfect for my needs. it is the exact same length as the domke gripper (when extended to the max and all hardware is removed).
it has the shoulder pad on it but maybe not for long. i'll try it with but when using the strap bandalero style i think it may slow things down.
but to remove it i would have to cut it off permanently which would be painful, i think.
the length is perfect for my girth but i can't gain another pound!! and it would just hang a bit lower if i ever lost another pound;)
the second wrist strap is on the silver zi already.
i now have a back up wrist strap for the black zi for when the longer strap is not in use. but i like the feel of the longer strap, the camera is at the ready just waiting at my side.

Hadn't followed this thread ... I was going to comment about the cost of the Luigi strap vs. the purchase price of the OM, but ... it's the VALUE of the OM that counts; it's worth a lot more, especially when you love it! :D

fyi - for the future, and for less expensive cameras I think Gordy Coale's straps can be customized to length.

I order mine from him in 44-inches - but I'm a slip of a fellow. :)

gordy makes a great strap.
i had one of his straps but my buddy kept looking at it with great longing and he now has it on one of his minoltas.
