While I was looking for a scanner last night, I half heartedly bid on Olympus 24mm shift lens. It was converted to Nikon mount which I think is why the price didn't go through the roof. I won it, while I don't even own an slr to use it on, and certainly not a Nikon.
This one is meant to be a classic though, the first 24mm shift lens.

That's a great lens, but Zuiko's were known for that, I do have lenses for the
Olympus and the Contax's the others I'll donate to a worthy cause or try to
sell.

You suck. Only kidding. LOL. If you ever want to sell or trade let me know. You have mucho leverage. Understand that I use to shoot a Nikon F3 with a Nikon 24/2.0 AIS with a DA-2 sportfinder. The Nikon lens had a good amount of distortion though which I grew tired of. Then I had a 28/2.8 AIS but I gave that lens to Phil when he really needed it. I own two Nikons and now no SLR wides.
Most of all I love rare and gear that could be considered bizarre, freaky and outright strange.
Does the aperture work automatically or do you have to use stop down metering without an auto diaphram? Also Olympus glass is known to be small and compact which is another bonus.

Cal, It is stop down only. This thing can only be considered small compared to canon and nikon's current 24mm shifts, and compared to that monster that Schneider had at the expo that had 6 or 8 adjustment rings. I'm not convinced the conversion was done that well, so I'm already looking at leitax alternatives.

The first time I ever went photographing with Cal in LIC he showed me this camera. This is prior to Cal going all out Leica crazy. The camera farm was in its infancy.

When you get this lens I want to see it pronto. I'll lend you my Nikon F3 HP that I recovered with "Prada" goatskin leather. Currently it has a Red-Dot "E" screen which is basically ground glass with a grid.
I spent a lot of time looking at Leitax adapters, and to me they are the way to go. Also the stop down metering required is not so important with an ultrawide. The heavy centerweighted auto metering on a F3 I believe will avoid exposure errors when using the shift. For me a Nikon F2 would not be the best Nikon body for this lens because the auto metering of an F3 is kinda required.
Also if you are looking for a Nikon F3 covered in "Prada" goat leather I have one available at a brotherly price. I will keep the grip, but know I replaced the foam seals. PM me for the price if interested.
When I looked at the scallopped hood I got a boner, then there's the built in filters. You know how I like to build "monster cameras" so the bulky size to me is kinda cool, especially since this will go on my F3P equipt with MD-4 motordrive, DA-2 sportfinder, and weaponized with an AH-4 handstrap.

True that today the "camera farm" is very Leica centric with mucho medium format, but I'm still a Nikon SLR nerd at heart. I still miss the Noct-Nikkor...
I'm was thinking of rigging out my F3P with another crazy lens, but by now all the Nikon selections seem rather generic. Originally I was a Nikon SLR shooter for decades and I'm talking to way back in the mid 70's when I was in art school. Back then I shot a black Nikon F2.

On the Lietax site check out the hard stop kit they sell. My idea was to set a hard stop at F5.6 and basically have a shorter more limited selection of aperture and to avoid diffraction. I figured if I went with a lietax adapter that I would make the stop-down metering a reason to shoot at basically either wide open or stopped down to F5.6.
Of course using auto exposure mode on a F3HP will expose for whatever light is provided reguardless of aperture selection.

WOW that didn't take too long: I bought a 24/3.5 already converted to Nikon mount. Comes with a OEM case, and of course it's minty with perfect glass.
KEH had one (not in F-mount) for $999.00 so I paid not a big premium for better condition and a F-mount conversion.
BTW I forgot the slow aperature factor: it seems that optimum aperature is F8.0 and not F5.6 like on faster glass. One review states that wide open the contrast is moderate, but at all other stops contrast is moderately high. Light fall off and vignetting is also minimized at F8.0.
This lens should be great on my F3P, kinda evil.

Tung is a smart guy and won't do a dumb thing like I did and sell his Noct-Nikkor. LOL.
A few months ago I almost bought another Noct-Nikkor that had a good price, but the vendor was in New York. The sales tax killed the deal for me. I couldn't justify the cost since I remain Leica-centric.
I feel the new Olympus 24/3.5 will be a good lens for me and my F3P.

I paid almost $600 for it, also from Keh, but it is not mint. Now if you would have gotten one with the OM mount, we could have swapped mounts.
We'll have to lay them side by side when the fed ex has come.

Thanks, but sometimes shipping to another address gets complicated fast. Also a favor is a favor and a hassle is a hassle. All I know that sometimes in Helgate where I live getting a delivery is sometimes a huge hassle. Although I live in NYC sometimes I feel like I live in a third world country. The worst was when I lived in LIC.

I passed on the $999.00 24/3.5 PC rated in "Ex." condition at KEH that had the Olympus mount. Instead I payed a hundred dollar premium and got one rated as mint with clean glass and in Nikon F-mount. It was a no-brainer for me, and it comes with the OEM case.
I dug out my double level last night and mounted on my F3P's prism hot shoe. Looks kinda evil. Might have to get a waist level finder and another DA-2 sportfinder as well as the electrical cable release.
