I did some research and Mrs. Gutierrez is my grandfather's cousin! Also I found out that Botica Sta. Cruz was a source of everything German back in those days-- Leica, Agfa, chemicals, etc. The business eventually went to one of my lolo's sibling and it eventually became Photochem (?). They also dealt in photographic equipment for medical purposes and became an Olympus distributor/dealer

Hi Taffy
Asked my mother for more details and she could still remember a few names. For instance, there were the people who owned BdSC, and who was in charge of what. They had an in-house German, whose name was Drücke, who was in charge of Agfa (or was it German pharmaceuticals?). There's plenty of pictures in her album, including one with your lolo(?), plus one snapshot from the backrooms of BdSC, showing the Agfacolor darkroom.
I still have a couple of negative sleeves which were used for the Agfacolor negs they developed and it's marked "photo & chemical industries, inc". Enclosed below is its pic, as well as a pic of an old yellow-masked Agfacolor CN17 negative from around 1962.
That paracetamol Rodinal developer really works. Its a shame that it was only now that I stumbled upon it. Had been looking for Rodinal since 1989, got my first live one 2 years ago (still have an unopened 500ml bottle sent by friends from Germany) and treat it like liquid gold.

Oh hey, didn't know this thread existed!
I'll raise my hand - I'm Filipino raised in America. But if you ask my uncles, they'd say we're Ilocano!
Been fortunate to go back every 3-4 years, my last visit was the first with RFs! Anyone from Bani (Pangasinan) or Claveria (Cagayan)?

Me, too, Raymond! I am not from Bani', though. But from Bolinao, Pangasinan. It is a small island close to China. Bani' as I understand, at one point, had the largest concentration of [Filipino ] U.S. Navy personnel, second only to Cavite, where the U.S. Naval Base used to be. This was of course, at the time of the Cold War.
Same here, I never knew that this thread [actually] existed.
I am a PASSION photographer. Not, a FASHION photographer. I have a burning passion about photography.
Rangefinder syndrome got me a couple of years ago, after many years of SLR-and Medium-Format neurosis.
The RangefinderForum, is truly unique in its abiity to bring people of different background, orientation and cultures-- together. My million thanks to RFF!
Cheers to you all.

I'm not Pinoy (actually 1/2 Korean and 1/2 Welsh), but I am an Escrimador. I love Filipino martial arts, culture, and food.

Eric: If you live in Irvine, it's close. If you go to any of the camera shows in Southern California, perhaps, we have "eyeballed" but, perhaps, not.
Nice to hear that you live close. Now, I don't feel alone...

Ecrima and Tae Kwondo (sp ?) are a good combination. That's should be the attitude: "Bahala na."

So am I. Well at least when I lived there. There was an interesting thread a while back on pocket EDC's.

Sharpf8, I took TKD when I was a kid. Since then I have trained more seriously in Wing CHun, Aikido, and a couple of Filipino styles.
TKD doesn't do it for me any more, but there are good teachers and practitioners out there, only you have to weed through a lot of mediochre ones to find them.
Ray, cool man. Maybe I'll come accros that thread sometime. My EDC used to be a Spyderco "Chinook," which was a custom model. I think a TSA guy ripped it off from my check in bag a few months ago.

LADP,
Do you by chance know of Kirk McCune? A great guy, and extremely passionate Escrimador.

Nice! My father's side originated from Anda!
Ray_g, we always drive through Dagupan on our visits to PI- amazing to see the changes over the years, especially after the earthquake.

Ilan na ba tayo rito?
Thanks to the 'net, I got to know other Pinoy RF users. Such is a rarity here in PI. Most are now digital shooters, and any film user left would likely be associated with SLRs. Such was true even in the days when film still reigned supreme. Then, as now, an RF user was the odd man out- and often would be asked, why RF?
So I'd like to post these questions:
Bakit kayo nag-RF?
Kailan kayo nag=RF?

Hi Sharpf8
Local Taekwondo gyms here are very careful how they spell the word. Taekwon do might be acceptable, but having the first three letters separate from the rest will lead to, lets just say, crap
Was into Taekwondo too, but that was more than 2 decades ago, in school as an alternative to the standard P.E. fare.
