Been thinking about owning one of these for years so when I saw a cheap body (well I thought it was cheap) I put a, 'I don't care if I don't win it', bid on ebay and picked it up for the starting bid.

Many more dollars later I matched it up with the famed 45/2 and was in business.

After one roll I think it will be getting a lot more use. The auto focus was fast (faster than I could manually focus a rangefinder) and the metering excellent. And the VF wasn't really that bad, in fact much better than I expected given the reports.

"Well done John. I'm a believer with a G1 & G2, 28, 35, 45 & 90."

==> Well done John. I'm a believer with two G1 cameras, and lenses 28, 45 & 90, plus a custom converted 45/2 to M mount.

Nice shots John. I've owned both the G1 and G2 in the past. The G1 never gave me any problem for years and never missed focus ever. The G2 I replaced it was just the opposite, it missed focus a number of times. Enjoy it John.

yep that Zeiss Glass is STELLAR... You did Fab John !

my only sense of discontent was it was too loud a motor

Thanks Helen. The motor sounds loud at first but once outside and using it I didn't really notice it. When I did, it just seemed to confirm to me that focus had occurred. I imagine it may sound much louder in a quiet church 🙂

Thanks Gerry. Do you have a favourite lense out of that bunch? How is the focus on the 90mm?
I know the question was not directed at me, but I'll jump in to say I regularly shoot my kids' soccer games with it and I'm pleased with the results. Like you said in the opening post, the AF is faster than I can focus manually... This is especially true of the telephoto, which is not as practical to use for zone focus as wider focal lengths.

Thanks for the info Froyd. Next purchase I think...
