Fujifilm X-Pro1 details leaked!!!

scene with the brilliant optical clarity and sharpness of an image. The X-Pro1 also gives the freedom to manually set the focal distance and switch to another magnification of the viewfinder."

the option for manual setting is a big plus for eventual adapter use!

Leica M is very close to Fuji X-Pro 1 dimensions. But lighter...

lightweight, portable, excellent image quality (no AA filter, new sensor arrangement), high ISO, optical VF, native Fuji primes, M mount adapter and more to come...

just missing a wider lens option...

Whatever quirks this camera has, I will gladly learn to work around them!

Hopefully the Euro won't totally collapse before I can swing this

Now I'm really wondering

Now I'm really wondering

If the Fuji is anywhere close, Leica just may have their first competitor (for < 2K USD) to the M8/M9 series. They've gotten away with charging 7-8K for a camera that was the only real digital rangefinder game in town. Now Leica will have to contend with a competing camera that will also most likely accept M-mount lenses for 1/3 the cost. Wonder what Leica will do?

Leica will be fine. It is still the only full frame rangefinder. The M9 is a mechanical rangefinder and this camera is not (that matters to some). Additionally, Fuji is a consumer company and Leica is (unfortunately) a luxury company. They don't really compete in the same circles... though many of us wish they did.

They'll continue laughing all the way to the bank.

Leica is happy being a luxury brand, and as long as the nouveau riche in Russia/China/India are willing to blow enormous sums on heritage luxury brands, they'll be okay.

I think this is true to a degree. But no company wants to see someone come along and chip away at their market segment. There are pros who have started using the X100 (one of the PJs here at my paper carries one on assignments and is quite fond of it). An interchangeable lens model is only going to add to the appeal.
Clearly the M9 and X1 are aimed at different market segments - but there is some overlap, as we see on this very forum.
In the end, perhaps they'll simply grow the market, leaving both companies smiling. But I'd still bet that the folks at Leica will be watching this new Fuji camera with at least a bit of nervousness.

Unlike most I actually like the fixed lens of the x100. Likely I will pick up this new camera with the 60mm lens to pair with it. My primary complaint with the x100 is the controls. I tend to hold the camera as I cruise around or work at an event. The buttons and dial are so easy to change without knowing. Often, critical setting can be changed. How many times I've lifted the camera to my eye to find I've changed to "panorama mode" or "flash off/on" or "Macro mode" etc... I don't know. I hope the new camera has solved this. I suppose a firmware update allowing the function button to become a toggled lock for the controls would be a nice fix as well. Otherwise, I'm quite stoked with these fuji offerings. My neck is really liking the light weight options they provide as well.

According to the press release going on right now, $1700 body only is rumored. $650 for the lenses.

"Exchange rate and volatility in markets", says Fuji.

Looks like a winner on paper. I know it's not in Fuji's best interest, but I hope it will adapt will to M mount lenses.

I expect Fuji will also release a body with lower specs and a kit zoom at some point, but that is the camera I've been waiting for and I will be buying it.

Body plus lens comes in about where the NEX-7 plus Zeiss 24 is at. Expensive but not absurd, if the lenses are the equal of the ZA24.

I do wish they could have matched the NEX-7/A77 EVF in specs, but it looks like Sony is the one with that technology so far.
