why? are you running out of shelf space? straining your finances? not enjoying it as much as you used to? overwhelmed by how much more stuff there is that you'd like to get?

This is a website that feeds GAS. Some would say: "You have sold your soul to the devil!"
Enjoy the fast, Vick.

Almost "all of the above".
Spending too much time "shopping", not enough time "shooting".
Not happy at some of my expenditures.
I do like taking on restorations though; that might suffer.

given all that, it seems you're burnt out on GAS and it should be pretty easy to lay off additional purchases for a year, restorations aside.

i get it. sometimes you need to focus on the art not the tools. It is exciting chasing the toys we want, but sometimes the pleasure we seek in that is an attempt at filling another void in our lives.

Even then, not as exciting as it used to be. As late as the 1980s, and certainly in the 1970s and 1960s, there were countless camera stores where you never knew what you might find. Now it's all eB, and that's nothing like as much fun as wandering from shop to shop and poking around in forgotten corners.. . . It is exciting chasing the toys we want. . .
Cheers,

My thoughts precisely, and the more infrequently we buy cameras, the more we appreciate them. My first Rolleiflex was nice, but I neglected it as I also owned a Hasselblad. Now I have another Rolleiflex and no Hasselblad, and I love the Rollei so much more, and it's my go-to camera for just about everything.

Or maybe we need to buy (and sell) a lot of cameras at first, to see what works for us, and then we find out what works for us and don't need to keep buying and selling cameras. I've certainly found this true for myself. My thoughts precisely, and the more infrequently we buy cameras, the more we appreciate them. I have no doubt you're right, just when I was in my buying spree, I just bought for the sake of buying, and barely used what I bought. I didn't give my first Rollei a chance really.
Now I'm buying a bit more carefully, and have no desire to trade anything right now. The classifieds don't interest me any more, or eBay really, which is a welcome relief for me.

Yes, but on the other hand, I can find cameras online like Horseman, Fotoman, Gaoersi, etc. which I never would have heard of without eBay or similar sites.
Digital has made the world more bland, but there are still interesting cameras out there, and the internet makes it easiers, for me at least.

Just bought a XE-1 and a Leica Adapter.
Try seriously not to buy anything until September 9, 2014!

I would have to concur with that. And one of the joys was that you could actually hold each camera that caught your fancy, and quickly dismiss those that didn't "feel" right in your hands. Today you either buy it or you never get to touch them. There are a lot of cameras that look nice, but just don't "feel" right or fit naturally. For me, the tactile response of a camera is much more important than the cosmetics. The controls have to fall into natural places, the knobs, rings, and buttons have to be in the right places and of the right size to be easily manipulated, and the tactile feedback from each is important.
I've grown accustomed to the scalloped lens focusing barrels of the '60s Leitz lenses, for example, and the later serrated barrels are just annoying. I'm SO pleased that Mr. K has replicated the classic scalloped barrels on the CV lenses. The optical qualities of lenses and the mechanical (or sensor) qualities of bodies are important, of course, but for me ergonomics is where it's at, and you just can't find out how things feel without handling them.

I love this.
Now, if the ebay auction ends past my date, I don't even bid.
I am saying I keep my ebay searches because I want to know market value because I'm still selling, but I think that is foolish. If one shops, one will buy. So maybe the searches will get deleted too.
One week to go. Sadly, there is one ebay auction I'm eyeing, but, it ends tomorrow.
Now, did I say that "I can trade"? I think so, right?

Good luck with this. I'm 2 months away from being a year of not buying anything. Not planned, however; but as the "anniversary" approaches I may try to see how long I can go.
I'm almost a year from buying anything bicycle related as well. Saved a decent amount of money this year!
