Hi All,
I'm set on starting to develop my own film but I'm a bit lost on where to get it... I know retail prices are a little ridiculous here so suggestions for online retailers would be great as well.
Thanks!

I'm sure there's a pro camera shop in Vancouver somewhere. Otherwise look on Craigslist. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/pho/2757413986.html

Perhaps pay Jeff Wall a visit? Not kidding, he apparently did all of his printing directly from film until recently. The films seems to have been 8x10 high-res LVT transparencies, though, but still...

Try Leo's Camera to get started. Kerrisdale Camera, especially the main one at 41st Ave and Arbutus, was good too for used stuff. Many of the stores got out of used gear.
Try Victoria too: http://camera-traders.com/

Prices of all retailers are very high compared to Craigslist. There is usually so much darkroom and enlarger equipment for sale on Craigslist that you shouldn't have to wait long to buy a fairly complete kit. With respect to retail, Lens & Shutter on Broadway, and Leo's have comparable inventories but Leo's has a better selection of paper. Beau Camera on 6th(?) at Granville has the best selection but the prices are higher for some things.

If you can stand the wait - the Camera Swap Meet on April 29 at the Cameron Recreational Center at Lougheed Mall would be a good place. Usually some dark room stuff (tanks, reels, trays. timers and the occasional enlarger) - prices depends a bit on the sellers optimism or inflated sense of value.
Craigs List is another good source as proposed. Decide in advance what you need and go prepared - at least to the swap meet - cash talks. Settle in your mind what you are looking for. Paterson tanks /reels or stainless tanks and reels. What size containers etc. Do a shopping list in advance.
Some sellers dont even bother bringing in darkroom equipment as it can be bulky and heavy - but ask around and see what they have stashed away at home.
If you are looking for complete darkrooms (enlarger etc) go to the swap by car - trying to negotiate public transit with an enlarger is a bit of a chore.
This swap is one of the bigger on the West Coast (120+ tables) - lots of "junque" - but also some good deals. Arrive early 9-830 am as stuff like darkroom equipment can go fast - or linger for the whole day - you never know.
One good thing with darkroom stuff is that it is pretty standardized and has been for decades. Once you get it - it will outlast any camera (and even people).
If you are looking for enlargers, be sure that they come with negative carriers, lens and that the bulbs are still available.
See you there.

Beau Photo I've found sometimes has supplies that can't be found at any of the others - a few times I've found Rodinal there but nowhere else in stock. Being closer to Emily Carr maybe Beau might be more reliable... dunno. Mail order for somethings can work.
Craigslist for sure is a useful source... just keep checking. Sometimes you'll find deeply discounted darkroom equipment and once in a while even free stuff.
Eventually my gear and remaining chemicals will be up there too but not quite yet.
