I have the Lumix 14-45, the original kit lens for the G1. I'm wondering if anyone has tried it on the new Olympus, and if so, whether there are any problems using it, such as slower focus.

I am thinking about getting the OM-D at some point, and if the Panny zoom is good enough, I could forgo the kit.

Blatant bump. But a lot more users since I posted this. Just wondering if anyone has tried this combination.

Don't know about availability, but there's a rebate offer which essentially means I would get the OM to m43 adapter for free. I already have the M to m43 adapter, but I would like to have one autofocus lens to use with the OM-D, and then look around for a used 20mm.

i haven't read of any issues and seem to remember a couple of people on other forums using that combo with no issues. fwiw, i've used the 14mm and 20mm panny lenses on the om-d with no problems whatsoever.

Looking forwards to seeing some proper shots with the OM-D and the new Pana 12-35!

I use only Panasonic m4/3 lenses on the OM5d. All work excellent, but make sure to switch off MOIS on the lens or IBIS on the body. Both on work counterproductive.

Unfortunately I dont use the 14-45 from Panny as tye kit that came along with it 12-50 was exceptionally good. I do use the 20/1.7 and find it exceptionally good as well..

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to reply. If I get one, I will get the body only. There is a rebate offer which basically gives you a free OM to M43 adapter, so with the M to M43 adapter I bought here last year, and the Lumix zoom, I would be set for a while. Fortunately Henry's (Toronto) did not have a black body in stock (they did have the silver), so for now I can maintain that I'm still on the fence.

I, like HuubL, use Lumix lenses, 7-14, 14-45, 14, 25, 45-200, on my OMD with no problems whatsoever.

Okay, for you Oly camera owners who use Lumix lenses, how do you deal with the fact that the Lumix lenses aren't optically corrected for CA (chromatic aberration) in-lens, but rely on the Panasonic u4/3 body doing the final software correction of CA to the RAW file? Do you apply CA correction manually in the RAW files from your Oly during post? Is it a problem for you not to correct for CA at all? From my experience and what I've read, the CA from the otherwise fine Lumix lenses is noticable in a file unless it's been corrected. This was one of the objections to the Lumix lenses early on in the life-cycle of u4/3, that the lenses, when optically tested independant of the camera body, appeared to be poorly corrected, as they were designed to operate within the context of a camera system where the final optical correction is done in software.

From being a Lumix G1 owner, I love those Lumix lenses when the camera system automatically applies the CA correction to the RAW file, but can't see how you could enjoy doing that manually on an Oly body, with every image, in post. Maybe I'm lazy. Feel free to correct me.

PS: I read a lot of posts by newcomers to the u4/3 system via the OM-D, who are tantalized by the Lumix 14 and 20mm lenses, for instance, but don't seem to be aware that these lenses aren't corrected for CA on Olympus camera bodies. Unless there's some attempt at educating them, there will be some very disappointed folks.

Sorry Joe, but you are lazy!

Sure it is a pain to post correct, but not every image shows CA. Maybe Olympus will get around to a firmware update for using Lumix lenses on an Olympus body. I sure hope so!

Joe, what Panasonic has done with their firmware is great. I don't recall Olympus doing the same. While a bit of a pain to correct CA in post, the results are worth it.
