It is a positive sign to see so many postings here in which deep concern was shown for the "situation".
I am looking forward to seeing Helen return to RFF. We also need "silly threads" that are loaded with GAS inspiring content! We benefit from shared information and receiving advice on many RF related issues.
Move forward RFF.

These comments don’t help... ever.

I'm pleased things are being resolved at last, and hope we'll see HH posting again, soon.
Being banned, Huss and Konstantin can't argue their case in public, which is a pity, as I expect matters could also be resolved with them too. The problem with banning and removing posts is that we, out here, have no idea what has happened. I can't help thinking that publicity is a good thing before and during the dispute. It might also make the moderators' job easier in future.

I can't help but wonder how many posters after # 225 in this thread read and understood # 225.
This thread's turmoil is all about a misunderstanding.
Helen and I had a good phone conversation this afternoon.
Helen will decide whatever she does, but things are good now between me and her.
Have a good weekend all,
Stephen
Stephen thank you again for letting us know and it is really positive that both of you were able to talk. Congrats to both parties.

Yes, for prolific contributors perhaps a one-on-one chat would be helpful instead of a massive time-out. Just a thought...

I’m glad to hear that. Hopefully all this is in the past and we can all enjoy the community.

I’m obviously not in favor of silencing people by banning them, but this seems personally “abusive.” And seems, as such, to be worse than posting wrongthink, or merely being consistently annoying. For either of which the ignore button is a perfect solution. This, on the other hand, if you are the person at whom it is aimed, cannot be unseen. It’s not a discussion, it’s personal.
Don’t misunderstand, I am not advocating any kind of sanction here in this instance, as others have already weighed in, and that’s enough, and how it should be. Dialogue, give and take, discussion. Raised eyebrows.
I am just making a small comment about “rules” and how difficult they are to apply fairly.
Some people didn’t really understand some of the things I posted earlier, also expecting the same result here from some quarters.
Golden rule, still golden after all these years.
Apparently there have been a couple of deletions in this thread since it started, as the counter says there is 250 at the time I'm writing this, but only 248 appear. I've always wondered about things like that here.
Anyway, I think the word "Ban" should only apply to permanent expulsions, and not to temporary situations. Maybe "Suspended" is a better way to address these temporary cooling off periods. That way no one hopefully will misunderstand the gravity of the moment.

The missing posts in this thread both came about because two members requested their posts being deleted.
Mods also have the choice of deleting posts or threads if things get too much out of hand. I agree, suspension is a better choice of words than temporary banning.
For those who asked, shorter than 30 day suspensions have not worked out well in the past. Too often they were soon back to their old tricks, resulting once again in temporary or permanent bans.
30 days seems to be long enough that almost all are never suspended or banned again.
For those wondering, moderating is an absolutely wonderful task, resulting in Mods being criticized for taking any action, ANY action.
One member will protest "That was too much!" while another member asks "Why did it take so long to ban them?".
Oh well, that is just the way forums, eh make that humans, are.

I will extend my thanks to the mods and tell them how much I appreciate what they do. I realize it is a thankless task where you can't please everyone.

+1, I understand the difficulties of what they are doing. Thanks.

Helen, I hope you're ok.
I'm glad the freako fascist was banned.
This site is not making money out of us, like most such. I appreciate that.

As a mental health therapist, I teach my clients not to label others; and
The term "drama queen" is sexist. I've never heard anyone say "drama king."
Such words escalate conflict, rather than resolving it.
I really like hearing Obama say "I want to make sure I calibrate my words."

Where’s the reset button for 2020?
Can we go back to, say, 2016 and start over?
