What? 39mm filters are readily available. Heck most of all the old Leica lenses are 39mm. Along with Nikon's 52 mm, they are standards.
 
Helen, you have a talent that turns just about any lens into a great one. Love your photographs and am jealous all at the same time. I hope that makes sense to you.

I vote #2. I love it that threads keep going, and hope that the OP sees it again and can comment on what they eventually chose.
 
It's fine if the thread continues, but the poll bumps the thread even if there are no posts made. So your thread fits perfectly the description of option 1.

I never said kill the thread, I simply said kill the poll so it won't be bumped with no new post to view.
 
I choose em both, and just subscribed to this thread so I can keep tabs on future posts. maybe even add my own comparisons after some actual photo taking....

Isn't there an option to have the poll close after a certain time when creating it? Maybe it needs to default to a year?

Since you have both 50mm Heliars (f/2 and f/3.5), perhaps you can answer a question that I've had on my mind. Are the two lenses the same?
That is, if you set the f/2 version to f/3.5 and match apertures from then on, do you get the same result?

I had the collapsible f/3.5 version, but I sold it as it is rather fiddly. Now I have the LTM f/2 version, which I love. From f/2 to f/2.8 you have aperture adjustable "glow". The old LTM Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 and f/2 had a similar behavior. Anyhow, as the f/3.5 has now appeared in a rigid conical "Mountain Elmar" type mount, I am curious.

I don't know. I would be surprised if the two lenses "are the same" when used at identical aperture.
 
Beautiful photos Mike!

Years ago I bought the Heliar 50mm F2 10th Anniversary Edition which I use both on my Bessa R or M7 (with LTM/M adapter of course).
The lens seems collapsible but doesn't.

Just curious does anyone know if from optical point of view it is the same as the Collapsible mentioned in this thread?
