"Hello my name is ..."

As you probably know it's not actually gold plated, but has gold plated electrical contacts inside. By using that name Yashica was using the AD boys "spin" to spur more interest in their product - LOL. Nice sharp lens though. 🙂

Howdy, My name is Scott. I just bought a Contax G1 kit to replace my very banged up G1. I had to use all of my meager savings, and borrow some from my wife's savings. But it was a really, really, really good deal. Seriously.

It's too late for me. I'm not going to change now. Having started with the best intentions and the highest of motives, I've devolved into somebody who is 60% gearhead and 40% photographer. Dante wrote "Lasciate ogni speranza voi ch'entrate!" "...All hope abandon, ye who enter here." Many of us think that testing gear is a temporary thing that we do in preparation for working. In fact, I think it is just as often — perhaps more than often — a permanent detour. We get off track and never get back on.

These words from Mike Johnston on the Luminous Landscape (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/columns/sm-02-12-15.shtml) let us know that...

there's no way out ! 😱

Oscar,
I think we can all see why the RFF MTF T-Shirt is such a great idea! Give them to your loved ones, take pictures, and test the equipment all at once! The back can read
"My Daddy (or husband,wife,boy-friend,girl-friend, etc) belongs to RFF and makes me wear this shirt!"

This is getting very scary! What Johnston describes in his article sounds like me! Must fight the temptation of the dark side!

Too late Peter. Someone who owns 5 CV 35mm lenses must have been consumed by the dark force! There's no way out and there's no cure for that! Bwahahahahahahaha!

😀

PS: What kind of excuse are you going to have for purchasing the 90/3.5?

Something like this ? 😉

PS: btw Peter, why fight against the impossible, RESISTANCE_IS_FUTILE... 😀

"...photographs in black-and-white with a Konica Hexar RF and a Leica 50mm Summicron. It's all he owns. "

a chill went down my spine as i read this line.

"the gear is a seperate hobby"

i can live with that.

when i sold my medium format stuff i promised myself - one camera, one lens, to get simple and enjoy the photographing again.

now, i'm losing sleep waiting for the canon p to add to the bessa r and the 50mm canon lens to add to the 35/75 set up i have.

i dodged this by saying the canon will stay on the canon. one camera, one lens. no meter, a purist. maybe start using tri-x again to get that 50/60s look back.

but really, are we so bad...?

Scary isn't it? I saw a segment on local TV recently about a (very good) Toronto photographer who uses only a single Rollei TLR -- nothing else. Same idea.

I suppose in a way, if we were reduced to a single camera with a standard lens, it might do wonders for our seeing. We'd have to get very creative to make the most of it.

But lenses -- what beautiful things, and so many to pick from and so many bodies to wear them on ... 😀

Actually I have 4 CV 35mm lenses and 3 R2! I know I have a problem but I cannot control myself! I guess it is like drug addiction. You know you got to stop but you cannot control the impulse within you! It is like what they sing about 'Hotel California': 'You can check out any time you like but you can never leave'. 😉 We all bemoan our addiction but the question is, do we all want to be cured of it? 😛

PS: I want to get the CV 90mm/3.5 because I want to take still life again. I swear this will be the last lens purchase for me for the next 1 year! 😀

Picked a bad month for this: Minolta 7sII, three Canonet QL17 GIII's, Yashica GSN, and Canonet 28.

PS Look for some good deals on a Canonet after I test them with film!

Have you tried that Minolta 7sII yet? You're gonna love it. The same lens as the Vivitar ES. It's a very good and sharp lens.

Hello, my name is Harold .... (puffs on cigarette) ..... and I'm a RF-a-holic. (cough, cough)
It all started with a really sweet Canonet 17 GLIII ..... (sweating) ... then I saw a really sweet Ricoh 500G .... (hands shaking). Now in the last month I bought a Yashica GT, ... (moans) ... a Konica G2 ........ (whimpers) and now (voice cracking) .......... another black beauty Yashica GT Gold Mechanica complete Kit with Tele-Wide lenses!!!
Please help me !!! 😛
LOL

You guys are a disgrace, and sicken me! I recently received a Canonet 28 and a Minolta 7sII. But, they were given to me, so that doesn't count as fueling any addiction. Even more, just today I went into a local used camera shop, fraught with old rangefinders, and I didn't purchase a one! They even have a "mint" Canon GIII QL-17 with Canonlite D flash unit. Now that's what I call will power, you wimps!

Oh yeah, I did get a 48mm 4x ND filter, a 48mm 2x ND filter, a 49mm polarizer and a 49mm metal screw-on lens shade........

ROFLMAO - Ha ha ha ha ,

"Lens shade FREAK" , I love it. Russ, hoisted by his own Petard! Remember, I'm laughing with ya' bro.

whoa fella!

aren't you the lens shade freak?

joe

What! Lens shades are important in procuring contrasty, flareless images. Besides, if nothing else, they look cool. Oh sure, NWCANONMAN pokes fun at me, but whenever we get together, I can sometimes catch him sneaking a longing glance at my lens shades.......

"My name is Richard and I'm a closet lens shade freak as well...
I have a preference for older metal shades and have some really cool ones that screws perfectly into my 49mm Olympus lenses..."
