I was running Fuji Superia 400 for those shots. They were also scanned at the lab where I get them processed.

Yeah, I still use film...
I guess I have to get my color processed somewhere else. The scans I get are very grainy, pretty much crap.
Where do you take yours?

I take my pictures to CVS, and I always ask for NO CORRECTION. This means that I get back dusty scans, but they look way better than the over sharpened, over-dust corrected, ultra contrasty scans I would usually get. And I usually only hand the pictures to one of the workers who does a good job. If she isn't there, I will come back another day.
It takes some time to clean them up. I use iphoto. But not nearly the amount of time compared to if I was scanning them myself. I would say the store scans are 80% as good as my own scans. Here is one they scanned and I tweaked a bit.

I take mine to a local Longs Drugs in Milpitas, Ca. They do an extremely good job with film there. Ive spoken with the lab techs and they are spot on with maintaining the machines. They also do high res scans, but you usually have to wait a little longer.

Philipb.....Where is that taken ? I am in Blackpool but the weather looks better where you are !

The best camera is one that still works!
Time to bump this up again!! No posts for a day!! I'm getting lonely...

How many times do you have to be told ... find a way of putting the words Leica M8 and Noctilux into your titles and ... 'they will come!'

did you use a flash on the picture with the scooter?

I would say the Hi Res scans with no corrections is the way to go. What I don't understand is why you get do much dust. I used to work part time at genovese drugs(Echerd) and we used a wrap lightliuy a dust cloth as the pictures were going thru the scanner

Looks south coast to me. The second pic reminds me of the location in the film "Quadrophenia" ?
BTW I'm on the Lancashire coast also (near enough), close to Morecambe.

South coast, yes, but not Brighton. It's Swanage, Dorset. I tend to take a lot of photos there as a distraction while the girls go shopping!

Hello,
Here are some shots from the second roll I put through my GSN, added electrical tape to cover the light leaks, the interslice-kit is on it's way. The film was Fuji Colour Pro 400H
And some nightshots, freehand. You gotta love the camera. (What I have noticed is that I have to learn to level my horizon again. With my SLR it's more of a habit, but with this paralax-corrected viewfinder, I seem to notice it less when shooting...

Just got back a roll from Lynx 5000. The colors from Ektar 100
are quite bright and have a high contrast. Almost reminds me of some of the Elitechrome picturs.

raccou, those GSN shots look very nice! I had a GSN that I sold not too long ago because it never impressed me at all. I've always been a huge fan of the Yashica Lynx 1000. After selling the GSN though, I felt like I'd sold one of the cameras every serious photographer is supposed to have so I bought another one. I hope that my last one was simply a bad example and that the new one performs as well as your camera does. I did happen to use my MG-1 for the first time recently and I was blown away by the performance of that lens. It's definitely a keeper.

Hey Racoll, thanks for your kind words. What stuns me the most about the GSN (or the other versions, I presume) is the lightmeter. The camera seems unable to get it wrong, even with tricky situations. With my pentax K10d, I'd have to take 3 shots and correct every time (my lenses are old manual ones, so there's only the manual mode) to get the right exposure. I can't be bothered with taking a light meter everywhere, so..
I use this GSN as a 'allways with me'- camera. It is a tad on the big size, but it fits into the pocket of my coat, which no other camera I own does, and it delivers.
cheers!

Woop! If all goes according to plan, I'll be picking up a GS with the auxillary lenses, and a flash for $13 this weekend! And, the guy said it's still working! That would be the first time I saw American prices here in Belgium. Good thing I have interslice's light seal kit.

I just got my electro back from mark hama, i gotta say that he does great work and has amazing customer service. I had to send it back to him after repairs because there was something on one of the inner elements of the lens (looked like glue or grease or something). He replaced the lens and i had it back 3 days after i shipped it back to him. This camera looks brand new. As soon as i shake this horrible cold ill be out shooting some kodachrome and some e-100vs
