anyway, i have a question.

i have a 34mm s walz hood.
does anyone know if this will work, without vignetting, on a summar?

Summar, wintar, I don't think it would vignette any time of the year. Should be okay, but that's just my guess.

But what's this Walz thing? Doesn't sound like Leica to me. I mean, surely a Leica hood should go on the front of a Leica lens? Any old hood will not provide the famed Leica "look" and the pictures from your lens will be rubbish... 😀

no this would be SOMEONE ELSE'S summar and my walz (japanese) hood.

have you seen the price for the leica hood for this lens? there are 2 on ebay now and they are not even close to cheap!

Well returning to normality - I'm sure they are expensive - anything old Leica seems to be. But you only have Japanese lenses on a Japanese camera? Is that some kind of a religious thing? (Off topic of course, sorry about that.)

not religious or political just a personal preference.
i like the idea that some designer made this camera and these lenses to work together.
it's the ocd romantic in me...

I'd be lost if I could only use Leica lenses. Those tabs drive me nuts. Each to his own. 🙂
