(I haven't seen the video, but still, I don't have a problem with stereotypes and I don't have a problem laughing at other people. In the same sense, I have no problems with people calling me dumb for thinking others are dumb) I haven't seen the video but I'm laughing at the idea of a Blonde Bimbo holding a Leica camera.

Anyone have a problem with that?

I have to agree with the other guy. Is this a Politically correct men's forum? If so, I'm way outta here and I ask the moderators to please erase all traces of NB23.

I don't get where the assumptions about that girl came from...

Deaf? She was talking, and she answered when he asked what kind of camera it was. So she didn't know how it was pronounced, who cares?

Dumb/stupid.. well, she didn't give an impromptu lecture about nuclear fission or the history of film emulsion design, so she's obviously stupid, right?
 
If anything, I'd thank Magus for posting the link to the clip. It was enjoyable. The first posting was poorly worded, though. Something like "cute girl holding a leica" would have been far more preferable.

I have to go with b) and c) as d) is impossible since a) and b) are mutually exclusive.

We're all different. Some of us laugh at stuff that some of us don't or won't. If you don't or can't, fine. But let us. I'm not gonna try to stop you from laughing at whatever you think is funny. I don't like mushrooms, but if you wan't to eat them go for it.

I was blonde but somehow without my OK it turned gray..I think there might be a blonde hair here and there on my head though..

Anyway, I may have overstated when I said this thread made me "sick to my stomach." The reality is that it just made me roll my eyes. 🙄

i am pretty sure the op was not MEANING to let loose the hounds but i do understand that some would find it offensive. having worked for years with women coming from abusive relationships i am quite sensitive to any derision of women, in any form. i have seen just way too much pain in the eyes of too many people.

can we just let this one drop?

I think locking, with an explanation, is better than deleting, as it will avoid most of the censorship issue which you know will be raised.
 
My impression, having just seen the video is that she was probably handed the camera and told to line up the two images to focus and push the button. She isn't deaf, she is focusing on what she is doing, and I find once in a while when I am doing that, I don't listen to others. Also having grown up with a few deaf people, I'm sure if she was, she would have taken both eyes away from the viewfinder to focus on his lips to read them better. English doesn't seem to be her first language either, not sure whether that was the case with all the people there. When I handed my aunt a rangefinder, it took her about this long to take the picture as well, being that she is unfamiliar with something doesn't make her dumb. I think the video itself is harmless, but there isn't really a need for the labels is there?

IHMO - the girl in the OP video was not deaf or dumb - she was flirting with a cute (if patronizing) guy. One thing she DEFINITELY is not is BLONDE! (Though she might be Italian - that accent just slays me!)

In fact, the way she flicked the advance lever looked pretty authoritative to me. And she knew exactly how and where to reach for the focusing tab.

My guess is that the young lady is a fairly experienced Leica user, possibly feigning "cute" ignorance for the benefit of the guy making the video.

Can you say "sandbagging"...?
