I already sold off my MF Nikkors to fund a new X-E1.
What I need to do now is sell my Nikon auto-digital kit so I can feed lenses to the X-E1. I've done this again and again over the years, never for a seriously good reason, except for the change of scenery.

So I am wondering who else out there at this moment has a mind to sell whatever and what they would do with the cash.

Hmmmm?

Talk to joe, our esteemed moderator. He's a specialist at shedding gear A to fund gear B. At this point, he should be in the process (or done with) of shedding gear K... or thereabouts.

As for yours-truly... I'm more like I add one system and then have to fund two. 🙂

Too bad you sold your manual focus lenses. One of the fun things of mirrorless is playing with manual focus lenses.....

I'm always afraid I'm gonna regret it when I sale something... So, I'm in another boat 😉

I should sell the majority of my cameras so I could worry less about which one I will use.

Unfortunately I enjoy them all so I can't make up my mind which ones to let go of. 😀

... sell my M5 (BMW). I have not driven it since moving back to the city. It's a road car but I hardly drive anymore (less than 500 miles in 20 months).
I could buy a year of rent at my Seattle apt. 🙂
It's a difficult machine to part with. 😱

I should sell my Minolta, Canon, and Olympus SLR gear so I can concentrate on my Nikon, and Yashica SLRs. TLRs and Rangefinders would not be included in a sell off.

Lessee, I sold my Canon and kit so I could buy a Leica. Then I sold my Leica and kit so I could buy a Canon and kit. Before that I sold one RD 1 to buy something and then got remorse so I got another RD 1 which I sold so I could buy yet something else. Got remorse again and got another RD 1. Now I have a Canon and kit, a Leica and kit and an RD 1 and kit. Total cost of which completely boggles the mind. I'm just gonna hang on to these guys and save money for the next GAS attack.

I buy and sell Canon lenses all the time trying to figure out what works best for me. Then I added the EOS 3 film body. Then I decided to try a film rangefinder, so a 250 Jahre version R3M w/50mm Heliar f/2. Then added Leica M8, Zeiss Biogon 28mm f/2.8, voigtlander 40mm f/1.4 and 50mm f/1.1. Next sold R3M kit and replaced w/R3A.

Now I'm finding too many choices on what to take on any given outing, and I also could stand to pay down some debt. So now trying to decide what to sell and what to keep. Leica M8, Zeiss Biogon, and cv 50mm will probably be the first to go. I have fun using the R3A, but it's rarely my first choice camera to take out. So it might go too. Considering maybe even selling the Canon 5D II and being down to just the EOS 3 with some lenses and speed lights.

But my mind keeps wandering to selling it all and getting a Fuji XE-2, 18-55 and speed light.

I like the smaller bodies of my rangefinders and how the viewfinders on them are on the left side of the back of the bodies and not in the center like the (D)SLRs. But I don't always like manual focusing. Thus the best options for me are either one of the Fuji's or maybe the Panasonic GX-7.

Sell the M5, it's a depreciating asset. One HECK of a fine asset, but a depreciating one.

Use 1/3 the cash to pay rent. Put 1/3 into a new something fun (perhaps photographic) and save 1/3 to pay for a car you might rent for those times when you need one. My guess is they have several different short term options in Seattle. You should have about three years of car rental set.

When you are ready to move out of Seattle buy electric. By then Tesla will have the price down and some very nice competition from the other guys (BMW too!).

Keep an eye open for specific manual focus glass at places like GoodWill.com. Joe is the man who changes camera systems like a 15 year old girl changes clothes.

well if you care about making money and you're gonna put small miles, there are some cars that will appreciate.

964 turbo comes to mind. nice car, too. Id love one in forest green with the whale tail, but theyre already on the upward swing and never got that cheap to begin with.

I should sell my Nikon FM2 with lenses and my Mamiya 7ii, and buy I 4x5 with movements.

Left is a Leica M6 which would go with me everywhere. And a 4x5 for when I have time and want control. And the Holga for when I want to be surprised.

Sold my Leica R outfit to fund an M8.2. I've gotten some use out of the M8.2, but not much I couldn't have done with the D700, or X10. I don't like having to use the IR/UV filters (some people are never happy). Sometimes I think about selling the M8.2 for an M9. But the reports of M9 problems (like Raid's recent bad luck) scare me off. Not sure I really need anything more than I have . . . well, an 18mm f/3.5 Nikkor . . . I could sell my 18/4 and my 20/4 . . . and maybe my 15/3.5 . . . but I like what I get with that one . . . no, actually what I need is a backpack that holds a little more gear than my LowePro 200AW . . . or a sling pack . . .

I should sell the gear I don't love, so I just don't have to deal with it.

If I just sold the ___, then I won't have to go through the exercise of "Where on earth did I put that ___?"

Seriously, I have seldom sold lenses or bodies unless I had a replacement that made it unlikely I would ever use them again. I'm glad I kept the manual focus lenses (Nikon, Contax/Yashica).

I really, really need to sell my 1971 Porsche 911E.

I would use the cash to travel, fund prints/framing for an exhibition I'm working on and produce a series of photography books I've been thinking about for far too long

Time to go for my Z-6 and 4. Nothing holds me with OM-10.
If I also sell C33, it will possible to get M3.

I have no regrets to sell cameras and glass, but holding into it unused, instead of someone else is using it.

I had a good think about which gear gave me my best work and "for now" I am sticking with that.
I have learned that compensating for my lack of talent by buying new stuff does not work and sucks the bank account dry, and selling gear to finance it only caused regrets.
