I Think I'm in Love

Well,

And here is a quote from Cameraquest web site on Hexar: " The Hexar RF is an excellent camera. With some features that no Leica M had until the introduction of the Leica M7 in 2002. I expect some Hexar RF's finding themselves into a Leica bag, working besides an M6 to offer the photog the best of both." So, did you change your mind about it since?
So, with all that going for it, and just possible problem servicing, Hexar RF seems to be a far better deal to me than a Bessa or a ZI, even more so if I can get it for less that I'd pay for a Bessa R4A.

I wrote the review when Konica was still a camera company and when Hexar RF's were easily serviced in the US. So far my techs has been unable to find a source for Hexar RF parts in the US, so I have turned down Hexar RF repairs.

Which camera is best for you, only you and your camera can decide. However you asked for reasons not to go with the Hexar RF.

Stephen,
I appreciate your take on it. However, you said in your first post - "Lots of resasons" not to get it and then just listed two - difficult to repair is one and RF/VF is better on Bessa/Ikon as a second. Is that lots of reasons? Hmmm. Do you have any data as to how often or what % of Hexars ever needed a repair? What are the odds of needing one? Cause if I go just by repair history/need, I will be left without ANY camera.
Oh and as far as VF/RF goes on Hexar RF, So far it's at least as good as one on M6 to me. Or even better, really. And my M6 was CLA'd by DAG a few months back, where he added a no flare VF too. So, VF/RF is good enough.
So, other than no repair available on Konica, can you list other reasons? Because surely you didn't mean just 2 reasons, when you siad - LOTS. Right?
Reason I wanna know is because so far, I really can't find any reason not to get one, other than possibility of repair difficulty.

If the camera is perfect for you you might try to go for a second body in the near future- then if one goes it could be used for parts for the 'survivor'. A thought.

I was going to mention the potential repair dilemma, but figured the camera was pretty ruggedly built, based on the Konica 50/2 I have. You might consider regular CLA's on it to help keep things well in order.
