The camera is already done...it´s name is the rd1s...

They should try to put inside a new FF sensor...

But i guess taht manul focus aids in the new FF cameras are enough efficient to render any FF RF effort almost useless...

We´re entering into the new genreation of FF AF cameras

I can't agree here... mirrorless = AF for me. RF = MF. These aids in Mirrorless cameras aren't great overall solutions yet... they will be in the future, but if you are a RF fan... you are emotionally hooked for life.
 
I agree, i use almost rangefinder....and don´t plan to buy me a new gen ff AF camera. The olny AF camera i use is the sigma dp2 merrill.

But have to admit out there the population of new FF cameras are increasing...the rx1, A7, Nikon DF, there´s no turning back.

And on the other side there are few makers that would betray their mainstream efforts like canon or nikon itself...remeber the mirrorless they´ve done!!!

Panasonic, fuji are going to make FF rangefinders?
Hope they would.

So i still think any meaning effort shuold come from Voigtlander/epson since the platform has already been done with success.
But technically putting a FF sensor in the rd1s may mean a totally new challenge that of course i´m not aware of.

Nobody is going to invest in R&D and tooling to break into a tiny market and then they will have to be cheaper than Leica and just as good.

It will be a cold day in h.... when this happens.

It doesn't need to be as elegant as a Leica to succeed.
 
I'd take an updated apsc R-D2 for 2000-2500. I'd go FF up to 3k. I think the market has evolved enough thanks to Fuji that there could be a slightly wider market for a semi-affordable RF. M9 prices are coming down, but they need to below 3k before I pop...

That would be a bucket of cooked potatoes thrown in the air (best not directly vertically up). Pigs love them and will immediately turn around and land near you, so you can pick them up in your basket.

I would suggest that "who" is not the question, rather the question is "when." And of course, the proper answer to that is "when pigs fly" hence, I'm sure, YOUR question. ;)
 
Which will not even pretend to be a rangefinder except by styling…:rolleyes:
If it performs as “well” with rangefinder lenses as the Sony A7 it will not be suitable anyway.
 
With hybrid VF technology it is possible to superimpose the digital PD "RF" patch from the new firmware into the optical path of a new model. This would be an outstanding new manual RF focussing approach in the mirrorless world.
Than you are back to a real RF experience without the mechanical problems of the actual RF solutions.
 
I'm to the point with digital that I've reached a "who cares" state. I've become my cynical parents. However, I do like to see the new product releases.

It might emulate a "real RF experience," but it still wouldn't be a "real RF experience" because you're still stuck with an EVF. No thanks... again.

The whole EVF thing for me is kinda like the difference between being in the cockpit of an airplane flying and watching a video screen with an image of the airplane flying instead of just looking through the windshield.
 
I'm all about RF's. I'm also all about Leica. I had read a very interesting article on Steve Huff's site considering the "what-if" Leica made a modern CL. Personally, I'd hop all over that. I can't justify (as a student with a student's salary) buying a $6000 camera, no matter how good it is.
