For July I'm thinking of a different kinda Meet-Up, but it will have to be a Saturday.
Andre tells me that the "Burger Garage" was showcased on the Food Channel. The burgers are great and the cost are low. Range fed beef BTW. They are closed Sundays though. The Burger Garage is across Jackson Ave from the Citigrooup skyscrapper in Court Square.
At PS1, starting in July they have these massave parties called "Warm Ups" every Saturday where they invite world class DJ's to spin for a massive dance party. The music can be heard about a quarter mile away and all these hipsters from Madhattan converge into my neighborhood looking for PS1. At times these parties have 4-5 thousand people.
Right across the Jackson Ave from PS1 is 5 Pontz which is a major center for graph-feat-ee art. On Saturdays permits are given out where artists can legally paint a series of buildings that comprise an entire city block to showcase there work for two weeks before it gets painted over again.
The June Meet-Up was small. (I made it at the end and went shooting with John and Jeff.) Ikinda wanted to make the most of a spectacular day, and I wanted to shoot rather than talk about photography.
So I'm thinking about meeting up at the Burger Garage, go shooting at 5 Pontz, and then go to the Warm-Up at PS1 which is basically outdoors. (MOMA members get in free and LIC residents).
What do you think?
