Interesting comparison, Vince... The skin tone change fits with my observation, and note the greens being slightly brighter "with", a bit dull "without". There is also a cooler look to the black fabric...
I have some pics of the same car (I assume, based on the number on it) from when it was in the Petersen museum. I agree it's a beauty. Nice shots of it.

That MD looks to be a real camera...just like film ..w/o the film...
Funny though...that people leave the plastic on the base plate..thats the 1st thing that comes off for me..right out of the box..
I wonder though..if they will made a new MD soon... in the M10 specs ...
I still have the plastic on the baseplate of my Monochrom 246. Don't know why, just do. It's ironic as it's the one that usually lives in a half-case, whereas the M-D is always 'naked'.
I can't imagine that they'd be introducing a new M-D In the immediate future - the camera has only been out a little more than a year, so I can't see why they'd do it now. Maybe in a couple of years? I don't even attempt to predict what Leica will do. It would be interesting if they did at some point though!
I have the Leica grip on mine, so the baseplate is back in the box. I'm not fond of that original strap; after brief use it went into the box too. The pad is so slippery, it kept sliding off my shoulder.
Godfrey, I hear that you are seriously considering a second M-D while you can still get one! 🙂
No, not seriously. I think about it from time to time, but I'm pretty happy with the cameras I have now and really don't need another. I still have a few that I need to sell, as a matter of fact.
I use a Street Strap on the M. It seems just right for the size and weight of the camera.

Maybe the M60 would be a better choice 🙂
I'm going to shoot some more with the UV/IR filter and try to do a few more with/without comparisons.
I was just looking through this entire forum thread and I realized that I've owned the M-D for exactly one year. Still in love with this camera, and I'm hoping that it continues for a good long time. You know it's a long-term commitment when you peel the clear plastic cover off the baseplate 🙂
The 2017 incarnation of the camera -- the 5cm f/1.4 Nikkor-S, 1.25x eyepiece, a newly-installed mini soft release, the original strap (which I've now grown to like). Oh yes and of course the UV/IR filter.

Right now I am utilizing an M9 as my second/backup body. I'm hoping this time next year for the M262 to be my second body, with maybe one of these MD's as my primary.
