Leica M7 with 7Artisans 50 1.1

I first tested this lens on my M240, and it was cool. Some edge purple fringes that occasionally popped up, some vignetting. A profile fix perhaps would take care of that.
I had a sneaking feeling that this lens would rock on film. And boy does it! This is now my favourite lens on film. And I have others such as the Lux Asph 50 1.4, Planar 50 2.0, Sonnar 50 1.5, Summicrons etc etc.
Crazy thing is this is also the cheapest new Leica mount lens that I have bought. I would buy this if it was 3 times the cost. Seriously.
3D pop, sharp, great bokeh and no issues w/ focus at all on my M7. Sweetness and light...

Great pics, great lens. I own one myself. Did you have to fine tune the focusing distance/RF? My was way off but after 10-15 min testing it now seems to be spot on at f/1.1 on my M8. Used it on the Sony A7R with no problem focusing there, of course.

No adjustment needed. Spot on w/ my M240 and the M7

I did not notice any. #7 I think was either 1.4 or 2, #8 was I think 2.8 or 4.

Thanks for the photos, for sure a lens which allows an interesting visual outcome at an affordable price.

Shot with 1:1 crop to show detail at 1.4 or 1.1 (I forget which). Same roll of film - cheapo Fuji C200 not some super sharp fine grain like Ektar, Acros etc.

Yes, I used the stock one from my Nokton 50 1.1 with a 55-58 step up filter ring.

Like the results that you`re getting from this lens.
I had a very brief play with one when they initially came out and I must admit was rather undecided but there`s no doubting what I`m seeing here .

Thanks Michael. Honestly I am surprised as to how good it is, and frankly it is incredible for the money. Of note, while the aperture ring is clickless, it is perfectly weighted so it will only move if you make it move.

Huss, thanks for calling attention to this lens. I was not aware of it and am now considering one for my M6. I shoot mostly 35mm, but think this would work well for a project I have in mind. The price sure is good.

To put this in perspective, if you buy this lens, don't like it and decide to sell it, you will lose less money than renting a Zeiss Sonnar 50 1.5 or Summicron 50 f2 for 7 days.

Renting a Leica Summilux 50 1.4 for 7 days cost more than half the purchase price of this lens! Renting a Noctilux for a week will cost $150 more than buying this lens!

To answer my own question; it seems they will be releasing a 35/2 M-mount lens at the end of this year 🙂

Not half, but then maybe $300. The 50/1.1 was just the "bait" and test for recognition for 7artisans as makers of excellent lenses. Now, this company may be aiming at making some profits too. Look at how cheap the first round of CV RF lenses used to be.
