But I think the dense and complex aspects of the M are what sells in a film camera.
I agree, for better or worse people associate ‘dense’ with quality.

What would be amazing is if Leica were to simultaneously offer fresh, updated electronics upgrades for the M6/M7’s. Just that business alone will bring good will and a steady cash flow.
Leica has reduced the price of one of their popular lenses, at least for the USA!

But USD-Euro exchange rate aside, I'm puzzled as to why.
I think Leica wanted to make the lens more affordable for young people just getting into film photography. The new Leica film camera expected to be announced in October is likely to be a similar bargain.

Yep, $5,400 will definitely put it in reach for the screwing around crowd.
I'm still shaking my head at the sheer number of M6's for sale and some of the prices!

I'm not sure how making a rebirthed M6 could produce any significant price savings (zinc or aluminum topcover?) unless it's made somewhere outside of Germany. A made in Portugal M6 might save as much as 10%; but if it's made in China?Well, the latest rumor is indeed a new M6:

Of course - I made no implication otherwise. What I indicated was, if the consumer is going to get a significant cost savings over an MP, the camera will need to be made outside of Germany - possibly China. I'm speculating, of course, along with everyone else.Is it still an M6 if it is not made in Wetzlar?
