I have a Mamiya 7 and a Leica M9. I want to get a wide angle lens but I can't decide which system to go for. I have 2 options.

1) The Mamiya 43mm lens to go with the Mamiya 7 system

2) or a 21mm Zeiss Biogon F2.8 for the Leica M9.

which would you guys recommend?

What do you want to do with it? If you want to do street, go 21mm and the M9. If you want to go landscapes and silver prints, then the Mamiya.

I used the 21mm f/2.8 ZM lens for a year until I got my Super Angulon and loved it. On the M9 it doesn't have the red edge problem of the SA because it's a retrofocal lens. The ZM is a fantastic lens and you'll be quite happy with it. I never used a hood on it and never had a problem with flare. A 46mm filter or even filter ring without glass is good enough for a hood and won't vignette.
You won't be let down by the ZM.

I have both cameras.
The 43mm Mamiya lens is just uncomparable. A decent scanner and you have a digital image that will far exceed anything the 21mm lens can provide.
If funds permit, take a look at the 24mm summilux; that is a sweet lens on the M9.
