I was in Sydney for last Christmas. Some bloke took a photo of my M4.

Couple of M2's - could not find the site for "chrome lenses on black bodies" so posting it here instead.
Both lenses are C Biogon 35f2.8 (best "medium" speed 35 ever made)
The M2 103 is a repainted one - I think the number is something like 1034xxx - but it does not matter.
XX in Pyrocat semi stand development for 15 min. Visoflex III and V-Elmar 65f3.5 on another M2.

When you have 50 M2's then you do not care when you drop one of them.

Wow, nice gear here, just found this thread. My meager collection, acquiring a lens or two as well right now.
One missing from the lineup is a Model 1, (1929), getting refurbished.
The M8 is for sale as well, the M9 has taken over.

After a night of cleaning and fixing the rangefinder of my new Crown Graphic 4x5, I needed a test shot, to confirm the RF setting - here is the M3, M6 and M8.2:

I just had a look and compaired the MP and M2 hotshoes. The M2 rails are more narrow. I need to find out if the hotshoe is brass on the new MP. It may not be and therefore an earlier shoe is needed and will probably need modifying in the centre. A painted one should be fine but I will ask Will van Manen this week.

I spoke to DAG a couple of weeks ago about this. According to him, the MP hot shoe is indeed brass, underneath nickel and chrome.
If enough of us are interested, maybe we can organize a group buy from Leica . . .

If that's the case I'll paint mine. I've never taken the frame counter dial and pointer off of an M. Has anyone here done it. As I said, I'll pop and have a chat with Will about removal of that piece and the material used but as far as I can tell the counter dial is held by a single center screw and the pointer plate by 2 screws. It depends what's underneath!

I seem to remember pictures shown in a thread here, showing an a-la-carte MP with black hot-shoe, that Leica agreed to deliver after a bit of negotiating.Yeah, I'm really digging it. Only wish a black hot shoe had been available!

Wow, it seems they will actually do anything as long as you pay
Cool that you were in time to get the vulcanite covering just before they ran out. Love that film counter.

Yeah, that was an M7 you're thinking about. I know, because I thought it was an MP, too.
Unlike the M7 hot shoe, the MP hot shoe has a notch to indicate the shutter speed. The corresponding M7 notch is engraved on the top plate. So, the availability of black chrome M7 hot shoes does not improve the situation for us MP owners.
