Lightening the load for travel

...carry gear to produce work but also edit work and transmit work (on occasion) for long periods. easy access, surprising capacity and they can then be tossed in the backpack and carried on with you.

with that approach, I can spend months on the road with everything I need. add a GOOD cable mesh lock (backpack size) and hit the open road!
Again, +1 I use one with a D3/50mm and an X100. Could probably fit a 28-300 in there too.
Ditched the ipad for a iphone 6+ and I can work for theoretically unlimited periods, with no base, no fixed address, no direction home, and nobody's fingers in my eyes.

I had pretty good experience carrying Lowepro Inverse (I think it's 200AW model), while backpacking in S. America. I had 1- Leica M, 1- Zeiss Ikon body with 21 and 35 mm lenses attached, and 1- 85/4 in the divider. It was out of the way of my backpack, and carried on my hips in front, so I hadn't felt it much.
