Look at this Instagram

My friends, knowing my dislike of Instagram, are flooding my email with links to this. :)

I know this isn't the subject of the thread, and it's probably been discussed to death elsewhere, but what about Instagram bothers you? I don't use it, but I don't see the difference between Instagram and 100+ photo dumps on facebook or any other boring use of cameras.

OK, that is seriously funny! I don't even mind Instagram and Hipstamatic but it rings true!

Thanks for posting, I needed a good laugh today!

Damn ... we are so busy replacing our eyes and brains with hand held technology that we may not notice the end of the world on the 21st December!

Well, I've never owned a digital camera, not even a smart phone, but just like aeturnum i wonder what the bashing is all about when at least 90% on these pages are 'test shots' taken with recently acquired gear that will be sold a week later (maybe someone should make a song...). That's nothing against rff - it's a gear forum after all and a nice one. Most of the photos you find online are useless, no matter if taken by a phone or a Leica loaded with Tri-x (and this includes my own photos, as well) - just seems to make people feel better to make fun of the instagram and lomo crowd...

Funny video! I can agree that perhaps 99% of stuff on IG is crap, but I was able to find quite a few talented individuals to follow. Some use IG to share the paintings they draw, some use it to share pictures from real cameras without the use of IG filters, and some are really good that I can't believe everything they shot is from their iphones.

If you look at all the images that gets dump onto the internet, you'd probably think the internet is full of crap, too.

I think the hate over instagram and hipstamatic is that a lot of people using the software to spruce up their photos think they are creating masterpieces of art. So those that work hard at actually trying to do so get irritated at it. I'm okay with people doing what makes them happy photographically as long as it harms none. I'm also not one of the facebook crowd so I am not bombarded with this stuff day after day. Maybe because of that I have more tolerance or maybe I have just decided to each, his own. The video was really funny though.. and true and really, when people are far apart and wanting to stay in touch, showing yourself at the beach waving to a friend you remembered to take the photo for.. isn't a bad thing. Cameras don't always have to be about art.

Now if you get onto the topic of reality shows and talent shows you'll set me off.. grrr.. LOL

"I'm bored with this art gallery. What's the big deal with all these photos hangin' up here. All they had to do was put a filter on 'em. I can do that."

Do you really think 20 years ago more people cared about serious artistic photography than nowadays? I remember everyone using that date imprinting function and panorama effects on their 90s point and shoots.
