I own an m4 and and m3 ds, and i voted for the m3 (preferably ds - as I like the mechanism better than ss...i think my thumb has evolved (?) to suit it and now the single stroke is too far to reach easily!)

I like using the m3 with reducing optics for 35mm but i think i mostly shoot with 50 and 21mm anyway. I think you will be fine whichever camera you are left with, they are all good. we are just nitpicky now cos we have the option to be.

I finally gave up on the 50mm FL. Gotta have 35 frame lines.

Therefore: M2 or M4. Or M4-2. Or M4-P. Or M6. Or M6 0.85. Any of 'em, so long as the finder is clean and the shutter accurate. Doesn't really matter, at all. It's nice to have a meter in the camera, though, and faster loading is good, and I do prefer the ergos of the modern wind lever. But none of these are deal killers.

Chrome or black doesn't matter, either.

The last post by the thread opener is months ago. You guys are engaged in some serious thread necromancy here.

Everything that can be said in this thread now can be subsumed by the following options:

[_] M2 / [_] M3 / [_] M4 / [_] Some other camera: FOREVER!
[_] M2 / [_] M3 / [_] M4 / [_] Some other camera: NEVER AGAIN!
[_] M2 / [_] M3 / [_] M4 / [_] Some other camera: I don't own it [_] but feel like saying something anyway
[_] I need [_] 35mm / [_] 135mm framelines / [_] big finder magnification / [_] something else: _________
[_] I own camera X so I say camera X
[_] Here's an unrelated picture that says nothing about the camera body that took it

I foolishly sold my 1st M2 and now just got another user one. I had the M3 and several M6 but IMO the M2 is the best and simplest of them all. I love the uncluttered view but must admit I'm not a fan of the M2 film counter. Can't wait to shoot with it once again.

follow-up question M-2, M-3, M-4, others?

follow-up question M-2, M-3, M-4, others?

M3 if you love shooting 50

M2 if you love 35 or wear glasses and love shooting 50 (and want to see the complete framelines easily)

never used an M4 so can't comment on that one.

This was useful information for me: I wear glasses. The M-2 over the M-3 for a 50 shooter is clear enough. What then if you wear glasses and like to shoot a 35? What do you choose, an M-4? M-6?
