andreas feininger?
I think this picture is a visual quote, but I don't remember who first published this kind of picture (I believe it was with a Leica III and a similar external VF): ... anyway, this camera is an M leica, sort of.

Thanks for the info - now I found the picture in question:andreas feininger?
Feininger used it as cover picture for the 1978 German edition of his famous photo school book. I wasn't aware of this, as my copy of that Feininger book dates back to 1965 and didn't contain the self-portrait. I wasn't aware that this book had re-editions over so many years! Anayway, it's a terrific resource, and I recall that it hooked me to photography when I was a teenager.
I'm glad to see that I didn't plagiarize Feininger's picture with mine ...

Same here. I just bought a very late, pristine M8, which I pick up tomorrow. I've still been shooting with my DMR, Blads (mostly) & my trusty M2 & M3. When do I get to see some images from that Oly?

Saving this space for a coming photo...
I just purchased a used chrome/black M7, and matching chrome Summicron 50 to start. I'm very excited as I've never had a 35mm film camera of my own. I started as a digital shooter and will continue to be, for paid work at least, but for my own work it's a different story now. About six months ago I purchased a Mamiya 7, started processing and scanning Ektar in the basement and became hooked on analog.
The goal in picking up the M7 was transparency. I wanted a minimalist companion to have with me at all times. The DSLR was simply too imposing, the 7 too awkward and slow.
