I woke up this morning to a flock of about 35 White Herons in my back yard, roosting. I pulled out my R3M w/ 50mm f2 and Kodak Ultra 400 color film. Set it to f8 and 1/250. I hyperfocaled and went outside and knocked off about 12 exposures including a few when they flew away. Shoot with both eyes open while I walked near them and along side them.
It was a good day from then on.

Cool experience Akiva! Nothing like getting to experience those birds up close. BTW, if the bird in your avatar is one of the birds you saw this morning, they were Wood Storks. Wood Storks are the only storks native to North America, so they're pretty special.

Don't know if you care about technical terms, so jut FYI... 🙂

The avatar is from a month ago. But thanks for the ID of the bird.

Over here we have Grey Herons, and they're decidedly wary. A relic from being hunted presumably. No way you can ever walk close to them.. 300mm is minimum. You can't get closer than in the attached picture (300mm) without stealth techniques before they shy away..

Please don't forget to show the pictures!
