Please let me know if you have a junker with a good central lens element...the one which sits behind the front element. If you do not have the tool or know the way to remove the element and its collar, I would be interested in the whole camera or lens assembly. If anybody wants to know one way (my way) to remove the central element and its collar, all you need to do is instruct me on how to post some repair notes/images here.

Jon,

I have a user QL17 (not GIII, but the lens is the same) that I am about to sell on the video game. I'm hoping to raise £20 for it - would that be of any interest?

Jon,
We have a repair note forum. Start a thread, use the posts for instructions, and use the attachment manager found in "advanced posts" for the photos.

Hi, John.
Thanks...actually I was hoping for a non-working model--a dead one. I think you'll probably get more for yours via the "video game."
Best regards,
Jon

Hi Jon,
I have a dead and dismantled QL G111. The self timer reslly got stuck and blocked everything...
Lenses are perfect. I could send them, I live in Holland, Europe. Postage might kill this idea.

good luck, Rob.

Rob,

Is it the small QL17 GIII? If you don't need it, and you don't send that part to Jon, i would love to have the top plate of it. I have a canonet with that thing completely busted (windows broken out, big dent, batt check button gone etc). I live in the Netherlands too (Eindhoven).

Cheers!

EDIT: alternatively, you can get my broken the Canonet if you want to build a working one:) It's pretty easy to swap the top plate.

Hi, Rob.
Thanks. That might be okay. The central element is all I need, but I can take the whole lens/body to get it. the central element is the most difficult of all to remove. Do you know how much it would cost to mail what you have to Dallas, TX?

Hi Jon,
You are lucky that I still haven't cleaned my little room out. Plus you are lucky that the dutch mail is nowhere as expensive as US mail or UPS or whatever. It costs only about 4 euros to ship the lens to the USA. I have some box and stuff to pack it. Plus you are lucky that the lens, glass is in beautiful condition.

You are a lucky man.

You can leave some of your gratitude through paypal if you use that.

Cheers, Rob.

Hi, Rob.
Thanks! Certainly I'll pay the shipping and if you want something for the lens itself, please tell me what you think is reasonable. Each dollar is worth...what .75 euro? Is that about right? Or has it declined from the other day? Please let me know also what your PayPal e:mail address is.
Best regards,
Jon

Hi Jon. Not sure if someone has sent you a canonet, but I have one I can send your way. I partially disassembled it to practice, but everything is there. I did not touch the lens, so everything should be fine with that.

I also have a 2nd ql17 giii that works fine (minus the self timer). The shutter was stuck so i followed advice and put some lighter fluid to get it going.... i see little spots of oil streaks on the lens after I did that.... should have been more careful.

Anyway, if you would clean the glass on the working one, you can have the parts camera... I am not sure if its worth it to you, but I would pay for shipping everything to you. Let me know.
