Neopan 1600: Status?

Only here could a query about the status of a film become a fight. Pathetic.

Until people can refrain from posting guesses instead of quotes from the manufacturer this thread is going to be a waste of everyones time.

Has anybody emailed Fuji USA? Fuji Japan?

If it's still on the market, and B&H suddenly lists it again next week, that's fantastic news. But we know that these films will not exist forever.

The concern is that if the product is cancelled (or no longer available in the U.S.), by the time we hear about it from Fuji, it may not be possible to stockpile the material at reasonable cost to finish existing or near-term projects.

That is an eminently reasonable thing to think and talk about, given that two of the larger U.S. vendors (B&H and Freestyle) are definitely not selling the stuff at the moment.

I've seen no one here claiming that 1600PR is definitively gone.

Anyone can call. They answered my email by telling me to call.

In fact, you all should, and complain. Doubt it will make any difference, though.

This isn't anywhere near a discussion. It is a bunch of pathetic name-calling by people who haven't bothered to find out the answer to the question that the OP posits. The only way to find out if Neopan 1600 is out of production is to be in touch with Fuji. I haven't yet heard back, and it would appear that cbphoto is the only one who has. Aside from a few voices of reason wondering who if anyone has spoken with Fuji the bulk of this thread is useless in just about every way. As usual with these threads one has to wade through pages of BS and name-calling before anyone offers up something worthwhile.

Exactly. I've got an email out to them now. If it's gone it's gone- nothing we can do. Fujifilm isn't for photography it's for Yen.

Um, okaaaaaay, then. Why don't you just stay here and have a nice relaxing drink, and I'll step out for just a moment...

(Backs up towards door...)

I think the threads about what to shoot instead are more useful. At least that way people can make preparations if it turns out to be true. Even if not, such preparations are highly valuable for ALL films in your inventory as any one could be culled. After being caught out twice, firstly by the AGFA collapse (I had standardised on APX100 from 35mm thru 120 to 5x4 for landscape work) then again with Ilford (FP4+ replaced APX)... I wont make that mistake again and keep familiar with at least two comparably speed films just in case. It prevents stress!

Damn... photography blogs are worse that political blogs! LOL. Relax. It sure seems like Fuji 1600 is no more based on the evidence... but I hope I'm wrong.

Fuji UK and Japan say thats its still in production... so not being sent to the USA anymore. ROW is fine.

B&H lists stuff that is discontinued all the time when it isn't.

And Freestyle told me by email that TMZ was more or less discontinued early in the year when it went out of stock. A quick call to Kodak and I was informed that it was out of stock everywhere in the country and it was scheduled to be coated again in late April and would be on the shelves by May.

I would think the only real way to find out is to call Fuji. Unfortunately there *does* seem to be some strange breakdowns in communication between Fuji Japan and the UK and US arms.

LOL. There's no hope for US customers then. I'd suggest reporting them to Fuji Japan to see what they have to say about it. I don't think they would be very impressed.

Butbutbut I thought that any statement from Fuji would be definitive!!!

/sarcasm.
