Neopan 1600: Status?

I just emailed Fujifilm Japan (in Japanese) asking whether Neopan 1600 is still being manufactured. There's nothing on their website to indicate that its been discontinued. I'll post the reply here when I get one.

This is bad news. What a film....

Onward and upward. TriX, developed for an extended period with agitation at the 1/3 and 2/3 points or similar. You'll get to a true 640 without much trouble. For one stop more its D3200 / TMAX 3200 territiory. The shooting continues!

Dirk told me he had not heard anything about the long term availability of the Presto 1600 when I ordered a bunch of that this week. I hope you get better news from Fuji Japan than I did from Fuji US Jon.

I bought 9 rolls today here in Hong Kong, the store (only one in the city afaik) that sold it seemed to have plenty in stock.

Having seen first hand Nikon America saying certain products were discontinued when Nikon said they weren't, I'll wait to hear back from Fujifilm Japan before resigning Neopan 1600 to the dustbin of history. 🙂

Oh well.

I have 20 rolls of 1600PR to shoot this winter, starting as soon as Sherry returns my M6.

By the way, many thanks to those who posted partial information, links to B&H and Freestyle, reports of conversations with staff at those vendors, etc.

Of course, we finally have quasi-offical hearsay from Fuji USA that the film will no longer be available in the States, but this comes only after it's almost impossible to find any 1600PR here.

The early posters made it possible for me (and, I assume, others) to acquire a working stock of 1600PR for this winter, without the hassle or expense of ordering from Europe or Asia. I'm grateful.

OK, Unique photo has ~600+, but I just ordered 70. That plus I can pick up 30 rolls locally and that should be enough for me as I mainly shoot Tri-X.

Argghhh

Unique Photo in NJ has Neo 1600 and and 400 in stock

My order (110 rolls) shipped yesterday via UPS - ETA Friday.

What is the expire date on them?

I'll know on Friday... there was no indication on the website that they were short-dated or past-dated. If you're interested, you might want to call them.

BTW, in case some are wondering, Unique Photo (in Fairfield, NJ) is a highly reputable store.

But you are in OZ which means you're bound to have a relative living in London who can get it and ship it onto you.

I have no doubt that you are correct, and I wish that I knew who they are.

My ancestry is 99.9% English (the other 0.1% was Irish), but too far back to personally know any distant cousins still there. The most recent immigrants to Oz were my grandparents over 100 years ago.

I called them on the phone, they seemed awesome. I want to order some Neopan 1600, but with the stock I already have I'm not sure I could shoot the film before it started to fog.
