Neopan 1600: Status?

Yeah, it's a shame there is no 120 800 speed film from Fuji anymore.

I found two packs of 800z 120 in a local store fridge last week 🙂
I was sooooo happy but confused... because it wasn't in the fridge the week before... and to my understanding it was discontinued quite a few months ago. 🙄

Yeah it sold so slowly there is still a ton around.

This was probably Fuji's thinking behind discontinuing Neopan 1600, that it sold very slowly and they assumed nobody would notice and that there would be supply for sometime after the axe fell on it...

Either way, I've managed to source enough film (at a decent price) to keep me happy for a couple of years.

Yeah, the difference to me is I know of people who shoot tons of Neopan 1600 and I know of no one who shot much 800Z. I have a few rolls in 220, but I'd rather spend less money on Press 800 in 35mm.

Well I don't know if Neopan 1600 and Pro800z have been discontinued, but there's still a tonne of each available in Yodobashi. In fact, I just bought a brick pack of 1600 last night. But now that I hear of these horror stories about Neopan 1600 and Pro800z being discontinued, I'll be stocking up.

As I'm heading back to Sydney for the holidays, I'll bring some with me and place in long storage in my Sydney apartment, for when I finally stop living as an expat.

While crying for 800Z, has anyone noticed color C-41 in 400 and 800 speeds now are labeled 400X and 800X like Provia 400X? They still are Superias. In 135 Reala also is labeled Superia though it's far from plain Superia 100.

Unfortunately Fuji is making a bollox out of it all and in the process pissing a lot off people off.

At least Kodak(so far) has given advance warnings of discontinuing products. Ahh well... I ordered another 100 rolls from Unique Photo, just to be on the safe side 🙂

Yep, Rochester is less confusing. In my case, they're also one hell of a lot closer.

The problem is ... how long does 1600 neopan last? Its my favorite fast film by far (much better than tmax 3200 and ilford 3200 imo).

Define better? Less grain? Sure. Faster film? No.

It'll last a while until cosmic rays eventually raise the base fog. Then you'll have to shoot it at 800, 400, 200, and eventually 100.
