new & improved...

I agree, but I'd prefer this as a firmware update on my RX100.... I think that I might even pay a modest amount of money:eek: for a firmware update that provided this feature, but I don't want it enough to make me change my camera for the new model.

I agree, and wish Sony would learn from Fuji in that respect, but so far it hasn't happened on any of the features discussed in the forums.

So how long has the 'old' model been out ... a year and suddenly it's not good enough?

This needs to stop ... the planet is spinning too fast for me! :p

the old model is great!
the best little camera i have used...but this one is better!

the dynamic range has been improved, low light is much better, more detail in the shadows and apparent sharpness increased.

Sensor development is the problem here and it's making certain very capable cameras last week's news at a pace that's frightening.

Technology always moves forward but one does not always need to jump on the latest and greatest..

I try to look at how I use my equipment.. Right now I just don't c doing any immediate upgrades for quite a while. These cameras are going to need to give up the ghost first
- x100
- rx100
- omd
- sigma Merrill cameras
They are more then good enough for me. I may end up skipping multiple generations here. In terms of my Fuji xe1/xp1, depending on how well I like the upcoming fw update, I may be skipping multiple generations as well.

Rx1 - not currently interested. The only camera that half way temps me right now is Ricoh grd, but my rx100 is good enough that I am ok holding off. If Ricoh ever does a next gen gxr m module like camera, I may rethink things.

For digital these days I mainly use one of the Fuji cameras or the sigma Merrill based ones.

Actually as much as that last statement was somewhat flippant it's also true. I find the capabilities of my D700 quite intimidating at times! :D

Who's mocking ... we have the right to question no?

Don't be so defensive you grouch! :D

Let me put it another way.

I am so satisfied with my Mk1, that if I HAD to spend ~750 in the digital realm tomorrow, I would simply buy something different -new or otherwise.

Some stock shooters are using the OOC jpegs from the RX100. This is very attractive to me but I haven't been able to justify a purchase. Now, with some IQ improvement, tilting screen, hot shoe and remote capability it's going to be harder to resist. MK ll expected on the market July 27, giving me three weeks to mull this over. Less PP and small size means more shooting time while traveling lighter.

It seems everything can be "new and improved".
Everything. Wonderful. More pix of blurry cats..
I stopped adding equipment so long ago..a week.
Yup. No! Not new. Old and worn. No Tri-Megapixels.
No darn what happened to exact focus, Soctilux f0.95.
I am having such fun, with old stuff. Minolta SLR etc.
I am pleased that Sony has improved what as said/reported/reviewed as a perfect camera.Wonderful. So exciting.
Honest.

The II model can also accept an electronic viewfinder.

Which is nice, but not needed.

Not because it would be a tighter/more awkward fit in a pocket, but because the Sony WhiteMagic screen is the BEST in the business. I dare say I like it better than my Nex EVF.

Whenever I use a camera without it, I wonder how much licensing money Sony is missing out on.
