Do buy here first. I had a M6 and M4-P, both of which I purchased new. I loved both, the internal meter was handy, but not a requirement as I use SLRs for anything longer than 105.
The other great thing is that both can use a RapidWinder II, a critical addition for any M.
I should mention that I use a S3-2000 as my RF camera these days and am VERY happy with it.

Boy, there was a pretty nice user M4-2 on eprey for $529 BIN. It only lasted about 1-2 hours though. I like both the M4-2(Late version chrome) an M4-P(early version). To me they handle the same except for the frame line difference.

Thanks for all the good info! After watching ebay for a few days I've come to the conclusion that the M4-Ps and M6s are going for almost the same price
Really? then maybe it's time to sell mine then
Back when I got mine, M4-P was the "workman's" Leica M.
But it's black, it has framelines for wider lenses, has a quickload spool built-in, same awesome VF/RF, and a red dot that dissapear when you use the camera
So, what is bad about it? Nothing, in my view. Unless you just have to have a built-in meter to take any pictures.
