Just coming back to the Jack the Hat 34mm hood and pondering the issue of vignetting on a Summar...
Approximate measurements are:
Jack the Hat
Width internal: 35.5mm Depth internal: 18mm
FISON
Width internal: 33mm Depth internal: 15mm
(I've lost FOOKH!!! From what I remember no vignetting but not really deep enough.)
FIKUS (coll)
Width internal: 40mm Depth internal: 26mm
We know that Fikus works OK but vignettes with a clamp-on filter.
To be honest, I don't think I have any examples of Fison on a Summar at full aperture and Jack the Hat I am yet to try...the Fison I measured has a little lip on the front, I think there are a number of very slight variations.
So...questions about use without a clamp-on filter
Does Fison actually work on a Summar at full aperture?
Is the comparatively small variation in size beween Fison and Jack the Hat sufficient to prevent vignetting?
And if you do use clamp on filters with your Summar it is back to dear old SOOMP or something else entirely?
I guess there is only one way of finding out...unless you have one of those new fangled digital full frame thingies close to hand to speed things up?????
