Nikon DF Images and Experiences...

It appeals to me the way it is, but if they put it into an exact replica (exact, looks and materials and weight ) of an F2 body, I would find it irresistable.

I was in at Harvey Norman picking up a new computer keyboard and spotted a black DF in their cabinet ... first time I've seen one in the flesh.

A bit plasticky looking IMO ... I was kind of disappointed!

It just made me realise that if I ever decided to get one it would have to be silver! 😀 I liked the looks of the camera a lot ... just not the finish in black.

It reminds me of the 1980s silver colored plastic (so does the X100 from Fuji)

Nikon Df with Nikkor-O 35mm/f2 processed in Lightroom

Hi David, I love this picture and I'm wondering, is your Nikkor-O 35mm f/2 still a non-AI lens or did you have an AI conversion done to it? I have the OC version of that lens, non-AI, and love how it renders on my Nikon F. I also have a non-AI 50 S-Auto that I'd love to use on a digital body, but was wondering how well the non-AI lenses work on the Df without the aperture indexing?

Before I bought my Df, I had the 35/f2, 55/f3.5 Micro and 85/f1.8. I immediately sent in 55 and the 85 to John White to be converted. I spent very little time using the non-AI converted 35, so cannot really comment - but it was a bit fiddly. It is much better using AI converted lenses since all you need to do is make a quick select to set the correct lens from the list of 9 possible lenses (that you enter based on the lenses you have).

I also created a script that uses exiftool to set a few additional metadata lens parameters in the NEF files before I import into Lightroom. This allows you to more easily use lens profiles in Lightroom.

This thread tortured me for too long - I picked up a black Df on the way home today. I'll be using it (initially, anyways) with my Ai-S 50/1.2 and Ai-S 105/2.5, and also with the Ai-S 35/2 I have inbound.

Congratulations. It is a much better camera than the internet chatter might have you believe. Add to that the relatively low cost and high quality Ai/Ais lenses available and what's not to like. Enjoy.

A few weeks now with the Df (still not got M9 back) as much as enjoy the older Nikkors and decided to try a 35mm 1.8g quite impressed.
