Nikon DF

Well the a7/7R was rumored in the three grand area until it was officially announced. I think rumors of high prices makes the officially announced price seem lower. Then everyone is going What a Deal..... Then they preorder. Trick or treat.

Lets bark at the $3k price and suggest online that is should be below $2k.
Refuse to place a pre-order.
Price will come down.

There is a reason for sending out these teasers and feeding the rumors. Its part of the marketing strategy. If they have not set a price yet. They will listen to what the potential market tells them. So all keep mentioning that its to expensive and refuse to make serious indications for purchase until its at a price level where we want it ;-)

This is not a Leica......

The conversion is not what companies do. You set price points for each market independently. I'm in marketing, do it all the time.

Yes, That makes sense..... tease the market with a MSRP and see where the chatter leads as approved or not... (to a point)

I would like to see $2000-2300... Then in a year or so, a used one will go for $1700-2000...

the teaser video set everyone talking, now that we get small glimpse of the cam, everyone is curious of the price. i think it will be a "wow" if it's price below D600. 😛

I have no experience with a "newer two-dial DSLR", so I can't judge on that. What I would like to see though is a shutter speed dial on the top plate and an aperture ring on the lens, that you can adjust and preset without having to turn the camera on. Call me old fashioned, but that's the way I would like to see it.

You are old fashioned. 😀

Change happens. The two dial system - one for shutter speed and one for aperture is actually a lot more ergonomic than the old shutter speed dial and aperture ring. Give it a chance, don't judge without trying... The dials fall right under your fingers. Never thought I'd say that. I am old, but not old fashioned, at least not any more.

Looks really good so far! Not a fan of the dial on the back (like all the other Nikon DSLR's), but that shutter speed dial is a welcome sight!

My Monochrom was looking for some company......

looks too fat for my taste. Almost like a D3200 or something, with harder lines. I just dont see the point. unless it can take on a variety of glass (M mount). I think I might just get the Sony....not that that thing is a beaut either, but at least it will probably be cheaper and work with all our lenses (including our nikkors!)

I like analogue dials, shutter speed dial, aperture, yes please.
This camera might have winner written all over it but I'm not getting too excited until the 5th, all this plotting.
For those of you who like fiddling with electronic multi-button starship enterprise UI, there are a plethora of gadgets to play with to your hearts content. Just let us old fashioned types have our proper cameras back.

looks like the original F-bridge accessory port in the left, let this have mechanical MLU, i want to mount the 21mm retrofocus ...
If the thing has an OVF too most like i m going to be and early adopter

Okay. I'm finally buying into the hype. I gotta keep telling myself to stick to Leica and film, but I would trade my D3 in a heartbeat for this. Would I use it? that's the question.

Mostly I'm just incredibly excited to see cameras returning to dedicated dials and switches. It broke my heart when I learned the D4 got rid of the metering lever.

I couldn't have said it better. As far as cameras are concerned, I'm glad to be old fashioned.

This is actually quite fun ... I'm getting in the mood here! 😀

This has to be the most frequently posted thread right now.

What does that say about SLR users?

We've been waiting for something like this for way to long.

It's fascinating because up until a few days ago it was all Sony Sony Sony!

This camera is far more interesting because it's from a highly recognised camera manufacturer ... who finally seems to be paying attention. 🙂
