New York NYC December Meet-up?

Also tomorrow

Also tomorrow

I just saw that SantaCon is tomorrow.

Which means invariably encountering roaming packs of Santas.

Should make the day a bit more fun.

How drunk is everyone encouraged to get? I've never been to one of these meetups, but would want to make sure I provide plenty of embarrassing photo ops if I do.
Sorry to disappoint, but I hold my alcohol quite well. (My dad was an ambulance driver, so there might be some influence from there.) Still, opportunities may present themselves...

Update: There will be not one, but two door prizes from me tomorrow. The only hint I'm giving is that you're gonna have to use 'em fast.

To quote the Godfather of Soul, we're gonna have a funky good time!

From the Whitehorse today. Some not so great shots of some great people and gear. Cal wins the prize for the most exotic gear with his Plauble Proshift. Wild. Hopefully someone got a pic of him with this beast.

not a member of our group. today was Santa Con 2010. The streets were filled with inebriated Santas, intoxicated Santas, drunken Santas, cross-dressed Santas and otherwised debauched and not-appropriate-for-the-kiddies Santas.

Carl should have some wonderful close ups of a passed-out Santa.

Er...what Rob said. Totally.

All those traffic & transit-snarling Santas...much as I hail the semi-spontaneous Mardi Gras atmosphere, it seems that $#*‡ like this happens every time I step foot into Mannahatta. Must be bad expat karma or something.

Great to see everybody! (Now shoot that Kodachrome and get it in, kids!)

Looks like you all had a great time! I hope a few of your Santacon pics make it online, I'd love to see them.

Thanks for welcoming this NYC expat into the fold. I had a great time at the meet-up yesterday.
Here are a few photos taken with the M8.

My first attempts at high iso, low light photography with this camera. Still have a lot to learn. I'll post my photos taken with Damaso's M6 once I get around to developing the roll. Thank you for the use of your camera - now I crave an M6 0.58 with a rapidwinder.

Had a great time, as usual.

Not sure the White Horse can accommodate our meetups terribly well, but the change was nice.

I can share a few of my photos from the meetup:

Photos => RFF NYC Meetup Dec 2010

And of course:

Other photos => Santas!

See everyone in 2011.

I had a great time, it was good to catch up after so long! Thanks for everyone who pitched in to buy some birthday drinks. Cal, you get to pick the date of the January meet up!

How come whenever Damaso leaves the country I get the opportunity to create an out of control event? Is it because I watch too much Project Runway; Is it because I am a smut/drama Queen?; Is it because I'm over the top?; or is it because it is almost time for the SECOND ANNUAL M-BODY BEAUTY PAGENT?

The December Meet-Up had a big turnout that had an international flavor, and the big rangefinder prize goes to Christian who brought a Linhoff veiwcamera. I kinda got pinned into a booth and didn't have the opportunity to circulate or give a door-prize to Rob for use with developing Rodinal, but I did a kinda funny "Calzone Move" with John just outside the Whitehorse Tavern. I had just set up my Plaubel to shoot just after taking a light meter reading. Since Santacon was happening, suddenly right on cue, we were approached by a big muraudering group of drunk rowdy Santas.

"! don't shoot digital," I said and I showed off my film cameras. While John was handed two or three consumer digital cameras, meanwhile I took eight shots and blew through a new roll of 120. Sorry John, but what are friends for.

"I don't even carry a cell phone," I quiwped. LOL.
