Phil,
Are we witnessing a shift lens Renaissance? Cal's got one, I've got two, you've got one and John wants one.

Cristian,
Funny that you mention it. I had forgotten about you and Cal each getting shift lenses.
Wandering around yesterday with the new 28mm was great, getting cityscape shots on 35mm that previously I had to do with a wide-angle and medium format then crop the final image to remove distortion.
I have yet to shoot the shift lens on the D3 but will probably this weekend.

Dan,
My newest pursuit is a new black Leicaflex SL2-MOT. The motorized body has a limited production of about 1020 cameras and the production run of SL2's was only a little more than two years even though it spans 3 years. I now only buy cameras in excelent condition for no money. I paid $279.00 at Adorama yesterday.
The camera brings me right back into 1975. Leica "R" glass on a very basic stripped down camera with mucho vintage vibe. The VF'er is kinda the best I've ever used on a SLR.
Today I get a delivery of another set of DSI fiber wet prints, but even more supersized to 20x30 on 24x36 and 24x36 on 30x40.
Ready to open another box or 50 sheets of 13x19 Jon Cone Type 5.

Christian,
No buyer's remorse here. I love my shift lens. Don't forget that I also own a Plaubel 69W "Proshift."
Cal has two shift lenses. Do large format cameras like Bethany's Busch Pressman count?

Cal,
Plan another uptown get together sometime. I get time crunched on the weekends with family stuff. If I'm downtown, it's with my wife and son. Bars are not too much to his liking, yet.
Cheers!

Dan,
To annoy people I don't post. LOL. My thing is that there is nothing like real prints, and images on a LCD are not the best way to judge my work.
BTW my SL2 is the snobby and rare MOT version that lacks a self-timer and is suppose to have a microprism only focus aid. Strangely and typical for my cameras this SL2-MOT has a standard SL2 screen with a split prism which could of been factory ordered that way.

Keith,
At this point I still have to confirm that Puck Fair hasn't been torn down yet to build luxury condo's.
Scout out some possible locations. Harlem Public very quickly developed into a very crowded and loud sports bar that later became unsuitable. That very first Meet-Up there though was kinda great.
I'm in favor of finding another cool place that kept the intamacy we have at Puck Fair.

INSIDER SMUT: for those of you considering buying a printer consider that I have found out from a reliable source that Epson 3880 is going to be discontinued, but currently Epson is selling refurbished 3880's for $849.00.
Currently at B&H I can buy a brand new 3880 for $1149.00 and get a $300.00 rebate, but I have an dealer in New Jersey that will likely match that price and save me on sales tax. If you are interested I can get you the "Calzone" insider price from the dealer I bought my Eizo from.
I'm considering getting another "new" not refurbished 3880 to have as a spare/backup. I imagine killing my current 3880 a few years from now from usage, and I'm both hedging and speculating like I did with oil stocks from 2004-2007.
My question is would anyone be interested in purchasing my brand new K7 inkset and my unused K7 inkset from my present printer. I have no use for them because I print with Piezography. I'm looking to lower my costs of acquiring a backup printer since I'm kinda dedicated to a 3880 right now.
Anyways like day trading cameras, now I'm day trading inks.

Not sure I can bring out the B-52 to the next Meet-Up with Nikon glass for John. I will likely bring out a box of 13x19 prints though.
Cal, I'm mostly interested in your 45mm and the Macro (but mostly the 45mm). So, we can compromise so you can bring prints. However, I'll bring the Df for anyone who is curious. So, any Nikon fiends that want to try the Df with your lenses are welcome to do so.
Plus, now you have to bring that Leica SLR!

John,
What a brutal camera. Of course for $279.00 one would expect a clean minty camera. There is some dust in the VF'er, that is my only complaint. No wear or tear, and just a plain clean camera that happens to be kinda rare.
I have a 3-cam 50 Lux mounted to the camera now. Originally I thought I would just do the free lens rental on my credit card deal, but I find out that finding a clean 50 Lux is kinda getting remote unless you want to spend more money than I did.
The camera is bare bones/no frills in a mid 70's form. Back in the day my SL2-MOT literally sold for twice that of a Nikon F2. It is said that during that time Leica actually lost money on every SL2 they sold.
I already think of my SL2-MOT as having the appeal of owning and driving a full sized pickup truck. I can see me getting an 80 Lux for this camera. Very cool that this camera features a second battery compartment to feed a light to read the meter for night shooting. The metering is a center spot that is smaller than on my F3P which makes for good night stalking.
Even without any accessories I think you would call this camera a "monster" because of the build quality. I'm building up to shoot more film this season.

So the meet up is April 5th, isn't that Easter for our religious friends.

Shouldn't it be sharper?
One reason is that it's also a big photo opp day, the Easter Parade on 5th Ave. Barring inclement weather I'll be shooting that event.
I agree Jim...I think it'll be a good meet-up day despite it being Easter.
