New York NYC March Meet-Up

I'm hoping to get that day off, the Easter parade seems like a plan and now
with the Full Frame I got a wide angle is a wide angle finally.

Well, I won't be making the meet-up. My family is meeting that day and I don't see them often, so...

My new SL2-MOT has a meter that responds to light, but is inaccurate. Now the forensics tell me why this 40 year old camera went unused. I think I will send it to Leica N.J. for repair of the meter, cleaning to get rid of the dust in the VF'er, and get the camera modded to accept silver oxide batteries.

Basically when done I'll have an updated factory fresh camera that looks new even though it was made in 1975. One of 1020 ever made and overall SL2's were only made for less than two years, even though production spans three years. The word is that Leica acually lost money on every SL2 they sold at that time.

This is why I have other cameras. Also know that I will return a 3-cam 50 Lux and a 28/2.8 Schnieder shift lens in Leica "R" mount. I figure that I want to later build a two lens kit when I get this "new" SL2-MOT back from Leica. The risks I run I figure are: one mucho top dollar expensive; and two maybe the camera is not repairable.

Anyways only cost me $279.00, and even if unrepairable the condition and rarity I think is enough to at least to recover my money. Plan "B" is to just sit on it, use it as a decoration, paperweight, conversation piece, and maybe just sit on the camera as an asset/future project to resurrect that might require a donar SL2 for parts.

Oh well. Hope to keep the repair bill to less than $500.00. With this number I likely could get my money back from a collector if needed. Lucky I got the body so cheap.

Cal,
Your like me when you see a great deal you just can't pass it up, that
camera looks great and is it bit of a monster with that motordrive but you
can use those great leica lenses. In my case I could not pass up that camera
lot from ebay with the Contax cameras, I went the other day and got the film
developed and was shock on how the pictures came out, great color and
sharpness I'm really happy with this combo. I'm still thinking of going back
to a Leica M, I'm just missing the "L".

Bob,

My camera is a SL2-MOT without the motordrive. I'm thinking that the problem with the meter made this camera into a remarkable shelf queen. The SL2-MOT does not have a self timer, usually comes with a microprism focusing aid (oddly mine has a split prism that could be special ordered from the factory), and of course has the MOT designation and the motordrive connections.

Even though this camera does not have the motordrive I would still consider it a monster.

Hi, newcomer here. I'd like to make the meet.

It's settled, then? April 5th?

Villanova,

Welcome. The time is 1:00 PM. We will be firming up Puck Fair as the location shortly.

I'll be bringing a box of Piezography prints I mad shot with my MM. Very impressive IQ.

** Gear Alert**

I finally received my Pentax K to Fuji X adapter, It fits the Pentax 28mm
nice and snug I took a few shots out my back window and so far the results
look good going to take it out for a walk today. One more thing to note the
adapter for the Nikon rangefinder lens to X adapter was the worst, the
infinity was way off and the rotating lens barrel was a nightmare, and
using the focus and aperture was a pain, so keep those lenses on the
Nikon!

Bob

Bob,
Those cheap adapters basically always need shimming. I use 0.05mm copper tape. It sticks in place nicely, and can easily be stacked to the right hight and trimmed to fit.

I sent it back and used the money to purchased a new switch for my Linn, but thanks
I'll keep that in mind if I get anymore of them.
